debt settlement is a thankless business. However, just because one has alot of complaints about a company doesn't necessarily mean it's bad. People complain about the government more than any other business, yet when they perceive that it's "not doing it's job" they're the first ones to complain that it's not there.

I spoke with a district attorney in the State of Maryland. I asked her if there were grounds for criminal charges against Mr. Brennan. She said yes, definitely.
The contract you sign states that the funds withdrawn will be held in escrow until such time as a settlement is reached. Mr. Brennan did not place anyones funds in an escrow account. Instead he allowed his employees to use those funds to pay bills for his previous company. That is the illegal part. The attorney I spoke with suggested immediately contact the Frederick County States Attorneys Office.
By the way, you can also file a complaint with the consumer protection office of the State of Maryland. According to an email Mr. Brennan personally sent me, he has no money and is living off of his fiancee. He states that this is due to the fact that his former employees (who he supposedly fired) misused funds and have put him in the situation of not having been paid since mid year 2007.
There is a class action lawsuit against Mr. Brennan right now. It is still in the early stages, as in going back and forth to court and arguing over whether or not it can be ruled an actual "class action" suit. But it has not dismissed, which gives some level of hope to people. To get involved in the suit, all you must do is contact James Koch, one of the attorneys. You'll want to have copies of your contract with Brennan, any and all correspondence (such as emails) and bank statements showing the withdrawls.
Good luck to everyone. I, personally, am filing a complaint with every government entity I can. I am also documenting and putting together all evidence to send into Dateline and 60 Minutes, in the hopes that they would do a consumer report on the fraudulent practices of Mr. Brennan.

Brennan is changing his colors again. I got a letter from The Consumer Law Group, P.A. saying they were asked by Brennan to take over my settlement process which I had canceled in Dec. of last year. Richards fiancee is his office manager. That was a good one though Rich. He is going to be in trouble again with the IRS this year. Oh, and by the way, that comment about his employees using clients money, I beg to differ. It is a fact and an undisputable fact the Rich used the money for personal funds for lets say the leases on his cars, the mortgage on his house, $3000 purses for that fiancee he is talking about, for the lease on the building he was in last year for the business, oh and for the remodeling of his house. I fear what the devil has in store for him. He may be right as to the fact he has no money, but that is because he is paying a ton of people a refund due to the settlement he has reached with the Attorney General of MD.

There is a class action lawsuit out there. I am a member of it. It is with the Law Office of James Sprague, I think. Look into it. I don't have the info infront of me, because I don't know if I will see anything back of my 2000$$.

I have been paying $200.00 per month for several for 6 months. I found out, this is the fee for Richard Bremmans' services to assist me in resolving my debt to 2 credit card companies.
Last week I received a letter stating he was no longer in business and I was being transferred to someone else. In the meantime I am supposed to continue to send 200 per month to this bank account for 42 months.
NOTHING has been done to help this credit situation. Interest is still being charged on these accounts and they have been sold to a third party for collection. The guarentee was 40% at a minimum he would get the debt reduced to. Well 200 x 42 months is more than the initial amount owed and the credit companies still have not been contacted. I was told once the entire amount of money was placed in the account, then they would negotiate with the creditors.
I am on a fixed income and this has been breaking me, only to find out nothing has been done and now I have to deal with someone different.
Today I called the feds and went and stopped all direct payments to this "account".
This has been a horrible experience for me as well as many others who have had to deal with this man. The mess he has made will be all but impossible to straighten out and I have no doubt I will not get the money back for his "fee".

Shirley are they putting your money in Global Client solutions/Rocky Mountain Bank and Trust. If so Fax them stating to close your account and to not let brennan or the settlement [ya right]company withdraw any more money, and send you all moneies that is in your account. You should get yours in about 10 days after they get your Fax. You will have to have your client Id#. Thats what I did and I got almost half of what the took. They are doing business as The Consumer Law Group, P.A Still the same bunch of A$$holes and liars.

that I am not entitled to my money back because I canceled the agreement, but when Richard brennan was in court they stop taking my money out, and nothing in escrow. And they never did anything.

I would think that you would have to be nuts to use him for bankrupcty. Have you not read all of the negative feedback on this guy. Find you a good honest lawyer in your hometown to deal with. The way he mishandles peoples financial lives is a good indication that he is nothing but a crook and is not out to help you but to get as much from you as he can. He has a lot of different debt settlement companies so he can screw more people. Google and read it is out there, Good Luck'

I hope people are looking up Richard A. Brennan's Law Firm online before they actually entrust this man to anything. He is dishonest and this info needs to be passed on to other people so they wont use this man as their attorney. If they do they'll be sorry that's for sure.

Used to work in the same office with Jeff at AmeriDebt...what a pair the 2 of them are...NEVER EVER use them- they are a joke.

Before i saw this site i called him to talk about a restructuring or possible Ch.13. He told me his fee was 300 and hour. I met with him in Frederick in a DUMP of an office. He was asleep on a back sofa wearing a T-shirt and khaki's and some funky hat. Anyway, i went thru with the meeting. He wanted a 2500 dollar retainer as his rate had suddenly fallen to 250 an hour. He was as absolutely unprofessional as possible. He's an idiot. I left, called another attorney and he'll take my case for 850 bucks. I am SOOOOO thankful i found this site before moving forward with Brennan. He's a joke.

I was on the program with Richard Brennan and I canceled. I had paid 7 payments of $300, and I spoke with Mr.Brennan and decided that Bankruptcy with a local attorney would be more beneficial to me. I asked him about a refund, and he told me that I'd agreed to a $2,500 retainer fee. I looked at my paperwork, and sure enough, I had. So even though I'd paid $2,100, I wasn't due a refund. At first I was angry, but then I realized that I had promised to pay that amount, I hadn't paid it, and with that in mind, I didn't deserve a refund because I hadn't even paid what I promised I would before settlements happened. So with that in mind, all of you who ask about these refunds need to see how much you agreed to pay. If you paid less than you agreed to pay in a fee, then how can you expect any kind of a refund back? It's simple responsibility and basic mathematical ability that let me figure out I wasn't due anything. Perhaps a few of you should review your paperwork as well?

It sounds like any time that anyone says anything positive about this office they get accused of either being brennan, or working for him. Is it so hard to believe that not everyone has problems?

Jigga Jay sounds like Marshal at American Debt Negotiators. Typical smart a$$.

My wife signed up with them,[American Debt Negotiators} after they called her, and we are on the do not call list. That was in April of 2007. The first I found out about it was when we received a letter in the mail saying we had been sued by one of our Credit Card CO.

So after 2 weeks of calling and finding out that they have not contacted any of our creditors, the late fees have almost doubled 2 of our accounts. I called the lowest one that should have been paid first and they had never been sent a dime. We have almost paid out $3500.00 and nothing is getting done. I called them at 561-483-7337 [somewhere in Florida] and was hung up on, accidently disconnected [convienant on thier part], and given the run around when I was lucky enough to get ahold of anyone. I have sent them faxes stating that I nno longer need thier services and to the bank that was taking money out of my account. The money taken and the avaiable amount was about half of what it should have been after paying thier fees. What a nightmare. The first card Co. I called immediaetly settled for half of what I owed them. Now why could American Debt Negotiators not get that done. The amount was only 800 dollars so I know they had enough money to pay them. and probably paid another one off before all of the late fees started to drasticly raise the amount owed.

Yes I have heard of this law office and I have dealt with them. They dont return phone calls and they dont handle their customers well. If you look online they have a history of Rip off reports. I would proceed with caution.

Your day does not end at your computer Keyboard just because you send in a complaint. In addition, if it is because you did not understand what you were signing and you use language like "fraud" "scam", etc. because some debt collector is telling you that nothing has been done, you could find yourself sued as well.

Richard A. Brennan is a fraud. Paid none of my bills when I was with him and never ever ever ever ever returned my calls....they actually closed down for almost a month at one point to move offices or something. My credit score went down almost 100 points because they did not pay my bills. I have yet to get repayment of some of the money they took from my account. When I stopped payment the first time on the $324 they were supposed to be taking from my account - they started taking $1 more.

The state can pursue collection of the money, but little else. MD cannot prosecute a legal activity. Second, J Formulak has filed / is filing for bankruptcy cuz he lost everything. So... No money there. Dick Brennan is also insolvent cuz he lost everything to taxes. So... nonthing there. So much for all the "information" that people toss around...

Oh my God, what an A-- I was. Just today a young lady named Syncottia called me and wanted me to come back to Brennan's??? what ever you want to tag it. She told me he left the Florida office because he didn't like the way the people were treating customers. Well, what does he care, he's not there!! Where is he really.She tried desperatly to get me to come back. She stated that the money would be put into a trust fund though Bank of America. Are they aware of the scam with their name on it? Don't anyone believe it. If you can't pay your credit unfortunately the reality of it is to let it go. Ask them please to take you to court, at least in front of a judge you can get a ligitimate settlement, and at least you'll be heard. Creditors are their own enemies.Work with people not against,and maybe you'll be surprised at how fast you would be repaid. Get this American Express A-- Holes. At any point don't deal with Brennan, who by the way seems to be everywhere an no where. From No. Andover Ma, to Boca Raton, to Maryland?? By the way check out your credit report, I now have an address of Boca Raton on my credit report and never lived there....If in doubt call a ligitmate attorney, they will answer your questions.

I got bit by Karma once. Not only did it leave a nasty mark, it got infected and I had to take Doxycycline for 10 days to clear it up.

To those who may have been harmed in all of this, LORAB did its best and solely worked for the best outcome on all settlements. A twofold problem emerged. Those former CrediCure clients had their accounts in a deficit state with CrediCure PRIOR to LORAB taking over. WE did not know this until the issue spread throughout the Firm. This caused the losses. The Firm did not have sufficient revenue to recover from this. Secondly, the outsourced help in Florida did not follow Firm protocols, resulting in many more complaints. When reporting and information was requested of the outsourced company, they refused. The Firm (and Mr. Brennan) NEVER received any of this money. Therein lies the catch 22 of this whole situation. All of these false accusations, and I only LOST money. No savings. NO property. No credit. Everyone else who used my name got rich, while I got nothing. Soon I won't even have my license to practice anymore. I have no income, and no future practice. I didn't cause this mess. I tried to fix everyone else's problems and borrowed my way into debt I cannot repay. I took no pay. I paid staff, paid every debt that I could and instructed everyone to settle client debts properly.

So you can all gloat that I am worse off than you. Just know that I didn't cause this. I didn't get rich. I didn't make off with ANYONE's money. I do promise that those that did will continue their money making enterprises elsewhere.

I've always given correct information. I've wanted to sue the liars and malcontents who posted false information about me. But I didn't because I had neither the time nor the money to do so.....
