Law Offices of Richard A. Brennan - Can you rely on them?

I have made several requests about this before but no one ever helps. I am begining to doubt if it is really true.

Can anyone who were sucessful with making contact with these guys or recieved thier money back PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE post the information they used to reach these people. I have no response to any of my calls, letters, faxes, and emails.

There are many of us who have been ripoff and are still trying to get our money back.

I know that this may not be the forum for this but in rememberance of the victims of 9/11 let us all be grateful that we are still here and alive and able to converse with each other. I know that we all have had hardship and money woes, but let's take the oppurtunity to gain a little perspective. Money problems pale in comparison to what happened to those victims 6 years ago and what the families are still going through. Please, love what you have, your life.

My grandmother has been with this supposed law firm for credit debt and they have withdrawan money from her account for 3 months straight and have yet to pay any of her debts. She has tried calling them in which they gave the run around at first but now are not even answering the phone. I have informed her to block this company in which they draw money from her account (with all the names they are using because they are not with drawing money with one name) and to seek legal counsel with a reputable law office they we have had dealings with. We are now going to have to see about filing a law suit agianst this company if this Richard Brennan would like to reply he can reach me specifically at email address removed as per forum rules - Mike

I'm sorry, but Richard Brennan is a crook worse than any of the PDL companies he puports to protect you from. Not once have I ever been able to get through to his office or have them return my calls. To me, it seems all they do is take the consumer's money, and ignore the creditors. That way, the creditor gives up, the customer's happy, and Brennan walks away with all the money.

Does anyone know if Brennan ever actually makes a payment to a creditor? :roll:

I am very disappointed at this website and the negative things that are being said, but I need to hear from you real soon or I will be doing some of the options that these people are giving me. chalk another one up getting ripped off by this firm.

they only return emails and phone calls about 20% of the time for me. i cant seem to find any proof of payments being made to my creditors. i have no idea on how to go about getting any of my money back, approx 800-100 dollars, all i know is i will be canceling my bank acct and starting a new one so they cant withdraw funds anywmore.

Does anyone have a recent phone number or e-mail address? They owe me over $1400 and they told me 16 months ago that I would have it back within two weeks. I have called and e-mailed (phone number and e-mail address no longer exist) well over a hundred times collectively. I just want my money back. I'm not calling anyone a crook and I don't wish to argue with anyone on this site. I am just looking for current means by which I can contact R.A. Brennan.

I believe this atty is the same person I unwittingly dealt with in trying to get some improvement in my credit dealings. Though I met all my debts, it was thru doing without any frills or extras and I became weary of this. Particularly with the universal default which often doubles payments, etc.

I phoned what I thought was Consumer credit counseling, the non-profit organization which has a pretty good reputation for assisting consumers. I looked up the phone number and came up with consumer credit counseling or CCO. I assumed this was the company that had been recommended.

While on the phone with them, they told me about a settlement program which, since I believe I had already paid my debts at least once and was now paying interest on interest plus assorted fees.

I agreed to this prospect, i.e. settlement, and they sent me forms, promptly deducted $248 from my account and I was unable to get in touch with them by phone nor did they give me the promised 24 hour telephone acknowledgement.

Once I realized this was a subtle name adjustment presumably to take advantage of the good rep of the other agency, I called my bank and arranged to stop the payments, which was done.

I don't know how they can keep my money, even though they call it non-refundable, because they failed to keep their part of the bargain, even minimally. Plus they were deceptive in their name.

Thank you for affording me this voice. Mr. Brennan, I am also from Massachusetts, though I don't have a home in Boca, I live in a studio on pension. Send back my money, even if you can legally get around it. What goes around comes around.

I am very disappointed in the services that were supposed to be provided by Richard A. Brennan. I terminated his services on August 25 and requested a return of my money. I have not heard from him.

I thought I was calling Consumer credit counseling of America for help. I called this number (877-366-0228) and was able to reach someone at Customer Service who was only able to tell me that I would not get a refund of about $3,500.

Richard Brennan has apparently reached a settlement with the Maryland Attorney General's Office. The Attorney General issued a press release last week.

For anyone looking for a number for R. Brennan, if you go way back a current cell phone number is in this very forum.
It is still a working number.
I found it and so can you, the trouble here is everyone wants someone to figure things out for them, take care of yourself, noone can do it better.
My debt was taken care of and that is because I kept in touch with the people I didn't wait for them to keep in touch with me.

BEWARE OF THE TRUTH

I had a bad experience with this fellow. Unable to contact him though he promised a follow-up once documents were signed within 24 hours, I decided to cancel the authorization I had given for automatic withdrawal from my account. This withdrawal of over two hundred dollars was the only thing done promptly. He did not return this amount, nor did he apologize for not contacting me or returning my calls. I can unequivocally say that IMHO he is untrustworthy.

I am a pensioned widow. This lawyer has another home and business in Boca Raton FL as well as Massachusetts. I think this is a scam.

I was scamed by a lying bussiness man. Who said he can help me get out of debt. He's a theft,and a lier.
And I hope put him under the jail and throw away the key. Something need to be done about Mr.Theft Lier Richard Brennan. I hope bust hell wide open!!!!!!

I see Mr. Brennan has left a very outraged posting defending himself and stating that most "other" agencies and for profit companies operate either illegally or in grey areas of the law. He operates from both Boca Raton FL and Massachusetts. I got snared when I believed I was calling Consumer credit counseling and he had his business under almost exactly the same name and before I knew it, I was out 260 dollars even though I could not get a phone call thru to them or get a response to left messages. He still has my money.

How many people were referred to CCCOA and then to Mr. Brennan for debt management in the last year.

Richard Brennan is not a member of the Florida Bar how is it that he has a Florida Office? Smells like a Scam.

I copied and pasted what was available on the Attorney General Website. I am disgusted that Richard A Brennan was able to get away with legal murder. He basically got a slap on the wrist and I have first hand knowledge that there was much more that he deserved. There are even other statements that this reflects and it is completely false. Jeff Formulak was not the Office Manager at any time. He is a client of Mr. Brennans who ran Mr. Brennans sales office(ATSL or ADA) in the same building as the law office. It is amazing that the Attorney General got that wrong since I happen to know for a fact they were told that very thing. I think Richard Brennan scuffed up the knees of one of his very expensive three piece suits to get away with this. Shameful or shameless Richard?

Repayment Services

BALTIMORE, MD (October 19, 2007) - Attorney General Douglas F. Gansler announced today that his Consumer Protection Division has reached a settlement with Frederick attorney Richard Brennan, the Law Offices of Richard A. Brennan, LLC, the law firm????????s office manager, Jeffrey Formulak, and a related company called American Telecommunications Solutions, LLC (referred to collectively as the ???????Brennan Law Firm???????), in connection with their offer and sale of debt management and debt settlement services to consumers.

The Brennan Law Firm sold services to consumers through which they agreed to place consumers???????? payments into an escrow account and either forward the money to consumers???????? creditors each month through a ???????debt management plan,??????? or hold the money until enough was saved to negotiate a lump sum settlement through a ???????debt settlement plan.??????? The Division alleged that The Brennan Law Firm failed to forward consumers???????? payments to their creditors, including approximately $240,000 of consumers???????? payments that were used by the firm to pay its own debts.

The Division also alleged that the Brennan Law Firm violated the Maryland Debt Management Services Act which requires an entity providing debt management services in Maryland to be a non-profit corporation licensed by the Department of Financial Regulation. The Brennan Law Firm is a for-profit corporation and did not possess a license to offer and sell debt management services. The Division also alleged that the Brennan Law Firm misrepresented the experience of its staff and misrepresented the amounts consumers would save through its debt settlement services.

???????Consumers who are struggling with debt need to receive meaningful counseling services, not unfulfilled promises,??????? said Attorney General Gansler. The Attorney General advised consumers to be wary of any company that promises a quick fix for repaying their debt.

Under the settlement, the Brennan Law Firm can no longer offer and sell debt management services and may only sell debt settlement services if it posts a surety bond with the Division, complies with the disclosures and restrictions imposed by the agreement, and pays full refunds to consumers who purchase the services but do not realize promised savings. The Brennan Law Firm also agreed to return all payments it received from consumers in the past that were not forwarded to their creditors, as well as pay costs and a civil penalty. I got involved with this party by attempting to do a credit counseling service from what I thought was the nonprofit consumer credit counseling. Brennan is associated with an outfit that has an almost identical name. I was offered a "settlement" program, and since I have already paid my credit cards at least a couple of times over, thanks to ex-horbitant interest, i was hopeful. My experience was a bad one. Brennan' office took $260 as a fee from my checking account, which granted I had agreed to, but I was not able to contact them nor did they respond to messages I had left. I canceled my agreement with them, but they did not return my money.

Well, I am sick to see all of these replies. Just add another to the club. I began working with Credicure and was switched over to Brennan "Law" about a year ago. I just wanted to make an honest attempt to correct my previous mistakes and just pretty much got my faced rubbed in it. I have stopped my payments to Richard A Brennan and am not stopping there. I have just recently come to realize my HUGE mistake and will be seeing what action I can take from here. My heart goes out to all of you who are in the same position. Take care!!

I had signed up with the supposed "Richard A Brennan" back in January of 2006. Every time I tried to get ahold of someone at this company, all I got was an answering machine. My credit went downhill, with little to no return calls whatsoever. I went from about May to November 2006 with absolutely no return calls or emails whatsoever. When I finally received a phone call, it was to tell me I was overreacting at first. Then the person finally listened for the moment, but nothing was really done. I found out during this time that I had been unknowingly changed from Richard A Brennan to Credicure back to Richard A Brennan. They also told me that they could settle with both credit cards in question. Months went by, and by August 2007, they not only did nothing to settle, I wound up going to litigation by myself with no representation whatsoever over one of the credit cards in question, which I had been "promised" I would not have to do. Now it looks like the same situation is happening with the second credit card. I had someone from which is now the Frederick Law firm call to get a verbal confirmation of the withdrawal from my account. I told them that I had a question on the paperwork and would not agree to anything until this was settled, especially when I had asked about this in an email over a week ago. The guy (Greg) got nasty with me and tried to prove me wrong on everything I said and told me that a once a month response to my emails and calls was sufficient enough, and that I was asking too much of them to ask for anything more. He stated at this time that they would terminate my contract, and I told him only after I received the money they had taken from my account would I allow this. He then proceeded to tell me that they owed me nothing. Now, I'm in the customer service field myself, and had I treated a customer as poorly as he had, I would have been fired by now, which was irrelevant according to "Greg". I went to Richard A Brennan back in 2006 not because this was the only choice I had, but because the news was stating that the minimum credit card payment was about to double, and I was already paying double on my own, and since I was having trouble trying to negotiate the interest rate down on my own, I had figured after great research that this would be the best solution for me. This was the biggest mistake I've ever made was going with this company. They are rude, inconsiderate, and unwilling to work with anyone. I hope by writing this that I can keep anyone from going through the same heartache and anguish that I have by writing this. If anyone from Fredrick Law firm or the former "Richard A Brennan" is on here, be prepared to here from a credible lawyer because I've had enough of your poor treatment and I'm seeking a lawsuit against you for not only the money you are unwilling to return, but for the poor and unfair treatment I have received from you as well. We as customers will not accept the terrible treatment from your company anymore!

Okay, so the last response to this blog looks like it was posted on August 3, 2006. It is now November of 2007 and I too went through the same issues of creditors not being paid etc. It turns out that the Law Office of Richard Brennan had taken about $2000 from me without my authorization and had not paid my creditors, conveniently right at Christmas of 2006. Try explaining that one to your loved ones when nothing is under the tree that year. After working my own debts out with my creditors and many attempts to get my $2000 back from Brennan, I still have no responses of the hundreds of phone calls and faxes I sent, not to mention the threats..... yes I had to resort to threats. I have tried everything short of a lawsuit myself, but I don't feel like paying another crooked law firm $3000 to get my $2000 back from Brennan. Maybe the Bar or the State Attorney can help. :x

HI guys, i am in the same situation. I signed up with a company called Quest Debt Ad visors/ Law Offices of Richard A Brennan. Since I have joined this company The have kept taking money out of my bank account and I cannot get a hold of anyone at any offices...I want someone to do something about this guy Richard Brennan i would think that the attorney generals office would get this guy from practicing Law.

I also have been scrwed by this person. My wife signed up back in April of 2007. So far we have paid them almost $3400.00 and as far as I can tell they have not paid anything to my creitor's. I even got a letter in the mail that one of my credit card companies have taken me to court, and sued us for what we owed them. They said they sent notice 20 days prior, to who not me, to Brennan. He did not reply to them and now others are calling and saying they can not get a response out of him. I have stopped all auto deductions immediately, [maybe they will call me that way]. People do your research, there are some out there that are helpful.

One of the card Co. called me and after I told them what was going on they dropped it to half of what I owe them. They said why pay someone to do something that you can do yourself.

I have gotte half of my money back by having it sent from Global Client Solutions and blocking American Debt Negotiators from any mor withdrawl's. Still no word on the rest of my money from American Debt Neg./Richard A Brennan. Told them to send me all records of all transactions and haven't heard from them sense. Will post back

I posted on Dec.6,2007 and Jan.8,2008. If anyone has been dealing with American Debt Negotiator's let me know by posting. I have gotten part of my money back on my own and have stopped the auto withdrawl's. They have not got a dime since. I live in Indiana and am wondering if any one else in Indiana is in the same situation. They are in Florida so he must have alot of different companies under different names, so he can screw more people.

They had mine withdrawn to Rocky Mountain Bank and Trust/Global Client Solutions. I contacted GCS and closed my account and Faxed them a request to no longer allow American Debt Neg./Richard A Brennan to deduct his monthly fee's. They sent me my money that was in the account within 10 days. I was finally able to contacted a guy named Marshal [in Florida] that works for Amer. Debt Neg./ Richard A Brennan and told them to send me all paperwork and statements related to my account with them. I wanted the $930 in fee's that they charged to do nothing, not even contacted one single creditor in 9 months. That alone more than doubled 2 of my accounts. They said to refer all of the calls to them as they would keep in contact with them and make good faith payments. All he wanted to talk about was what a big mistake I was making by trying to do it myself. He is a true salesman by butting in when trying to ask a question that might put them on the spot, and talking constantly so you could not get a word in edge wise. There is a $1240 discrepincy between the money I got back from GCS and the $930 they charged for nothing. He would/could not explain where it went. It showed on GCS bank statement that it was in the account at one time but show's no withdrawl of it or transactions of it. The Indana Att. Gen. already knows about him and his business practices and are looking into it.

When I contacted my creditor's and mentioned his name they knew all about him and so far I have settled with 2 of them for less than half of what Brennan's negligence had rasied them to. The other 2 I will have to try and get a loan for but not holding much hope, because of my credit score. If everyone that has been screwed by him would contact their Att. Gen of their state, them maybe we have a chance of letting him know how it feels, leaving him broke and wondering how he is going make ends meet and explain to his kids or grandkids why they have to wait for simple little items like new tennis shoes or a new toy once in a while, like at Christmas time.

Anyone in Indiana I urge you to contact the Att. Gen. as the more complaints the more action taken. Look at the October, 2007 Maryland Judgement for proof that something can be done. We just need to stick together.

After dealing with Mr. Brennans office for over a year, I too have had enough. There is a class action lawsuit in the works. If you look up Mr. James Kock you can contact him about getting involved. He is an attorney in the State of Maryland. There are a number of individuals currently signed on for it and I will be doing so momentarily. I cancelled my account last December and am still arguing over the fact that Mr. Brennan owes me a substantial refund. His office states that they can not pay me funds that were paid to the Law Offices of Richard A. Brennan because it has gone out of business. I suppose they believe that because Mr. Brennan is cloaking himself under a new name that he doesn't have to cough up the money he has stolen from people. But rest assured, one way or another Mr. Brennan is going to refund every penny. He doesn't quite understand the intellect of some of the individuals he is dealing with. Take for instance, those of us who would be perfectly willing to gather all this information and supply it to the local media outlets, Dateline, 60 Minutes, the local newspapers... take out ads in the paper, on the internet. There are many avenues not yet broached by others. Mr. Brennan hasn't seen anything if he believes that having his personal cell phone number posted on the internet was bad...

Hey Amanda, I tried looking him up but did not have any luck. Do you have a # or web address? Did he have your money put in Global Client Solutions, if so you can get the money back that is still in that account. Still am trying to get my 930 in fee's and the difference in the money that was withdrawn and where it went to. I got almost half of it back so far.

Phone call to R. Brennan--Many creditors are beginning to call after months of no calls. Talked to Heather Duff. She said they are moving their office and are a little behind in making the payments to the creditors. She says no reason to be concerned, everything will be back on track by August 22. She will call back to confirm this.

Received a letter from the law office explaining that creditors are no longer accepting electronic payments and so all payments will be late this month...Finally talked to Heather after 3 phone calls, she says not to worry, everything is going as scheduled. She says I will be debt free by October-December of 2007. I ask to see some paperwork, statement, something in writing showing what debts have been paid. She said she will try to get that to me???

Nothing received from the law office, no mail or phone call. Talked to Heather, NOW she needs copies of everything I have showing what bills should have been included on the debt consolidation. I am concerned as to why she doesn????????t have this information when she told me in August that some debts were already paid in full. I asked where my records were and how she could check on my account in the past without this information. She says the computers are down and she isn????????t able to find hard copies of my account information. Even though I am confused about this, I mailed my copies of the contract and debt information to her today.

She will call immediately when she gets the info.

No calls from Theresa. I called her, she did receive the information, but she misplaced it. She asked me to fax it (4th time) to her attention. I faxed it to her at 11:45am. I explained that all I want to see is a statement of my account, I need to see where the money is going that is coming out of my bank account every month like clockwork. She will TRY to get the statement to me if she can???

She says everything is going well, many debts have been paid. She isn????????t sure which ones are paid, and the computers are down so she can give me the specifics. She says to ignore the calls from the creditors, use caller ID and don????????t answer to them. She says it????????s all part of the process and not to worry, everything is going great. She will get that statement to me as soon as the computers are up???

Got an answer when I called..Theresa Wolf is no longer with the law office. Greg Pierce is now the contact for my account. Yet another person to explain my situation to. He says it is a case of ???????piss poor??????? management, no excuse for this to happen. He will definitely send the statement and all my account information to me by April 27.

Nothing yet...called Greg Pierce, he says the computers are down but I have an account at the Rocky Mountain Bank & Trust. I can go online and see any transactions that are being made with my money they have. I should also be able to see what debts are paid. I should be debt free before the end of the year. I called Rocky Mountain Bank & Trust, they had no idea who I was or what I was talking about. They never heard of Greg Pierce or Richard Brennan Law Offices. I called Greg Pierce, told him this and he said he gave me wrong information. My account is with Global Client Solutions, they should be able to give me any information I am looking for. He still does not have access to my account because they are moving (again).

Actually got an answer when I called-Greg Pierce says he apologizes for the long delay but the name of the law group is no longer Richard Brennan Law Firm but is now Fredrick Law Group-he is swamped and they are understaffed. The statement should be mailed to be soon.

No phone calls or any correspondence since July 22. Phone calls from creditors are coming to my home daily and nightly. I have started answering the phone and giving the collectors Richard Brennan????????s name and number. I talked to Greg Pierce, he does not know why the collectors are calling me again. Since the name change and law office merge, he has been given many new accounts and will call me when he is not so overloaded??

No phone calls or any correspondence since August 22. I again did some research online and found the letter from the Maryland Attorney General. Called the number on the letter to find out that Richard Brennan is a snake, stealing money from people. He is being investigated by the state of Maryland. At the Attorney General????????s request, I forwarded all my information, bank statements, contracts, letters from Brennan, this phone log, etc. to the Attorney General so they can purse the case against him. I immediately sent a copy of the Attorney General????????s letter to my bank so they could block him from my bank account.

One last ditch effort, I called the law office and actually talked to Greg Pierce. He says the letter is a joke and that they are not under an investigation. Although, he was quite persistent that I fax him a copy of the letter (which I did not do). I let him know that I am very aware that they are stealing money from people and that I will be beginning my law suit against them to recoup my money. He actually said that if I would send them some more money (a couple of thousand dollars), that I could still be debt free by the end of January, 2008. He admitted to having some of my $7,000.00-$7500.00 but said much of it has been eaten up with service fees and retainer fees??? My question is what service have they provided and what is the retainer fee for? Luckily I have a very prominent lawyer that is chewing at the bit to get this case. I have turned it over to him.

All you need is your account # and your Cient ID #. Then you fax them a letter closing your account and telling them that Brennan or who ever's name he is using to deduct the money from GCS and within 10 days they will close it and send you all of the money that is still in your account.

I just wanted you all to know I dont believe you understand how debt settlement works. The payments that are taken from your checking accounts is put into a trust that has been opened up for you. Until your creditors agree on a settlement, they will recieve no money. I mean your in this program to settle your debt for only a frction of what you owe right? Also, settlement offers are typically sent to creditors once a week, however if the creditor continuously refuses, or makes the same offers, the attorneys may hold all settlement offers for a cetain period of time, allowing better settlement. Its business, and takes patience.

I am aware that the greivance has already punished him. The point is that the greivance committee is requiring that Mr. Brennan handle all of his cases in a timely manner. That is obviously not happening. He can still be disbarred if he continues handling the clients in the same fashion in which he did before. The bottom line is, he can still lose his license. So, whoever you are, you better check your facts before you come on here spewing things you do not understand. There is still a place on that website to complain. Once again there are attorneys on the same website that did the same or less than Mr. Brennan, and they can no longer practice. Read before you come back here and talk. Also to default one, the fact that he performs debt settlement was never the issue. The issue is that there was a misappropriation of funds, meaning he spent clients money that was suppose to be held. That is what he was in trouble for. He did this for over a year. He also got in trouble for not diligently handling customer issues and returning calls and emails. Attorneys have strict guidelines on how to handle their clients, and he ultimately failed miserably at it. He also owes an excessive amount of money to the IRS which you can find in public record under the court system of MD. The person that posted that nothing can be done, probably works for mr brennan. I have seen him defended by employees before. Something can still be done. Don't trust anyone that has a positive remark about that company or any other company he has been a part of. He is a crook. Once a crook always a crook.

I signed up with the Law Offices of Richard Brennan last March after talking to CCC. We have a monthly pymt that I can afford as opposed to not paying my creditors at all. All I can say is that I've never had a problem with them at all. They have called me when they've needed additional paperwork. I've faxed them documents as I received them. Every time I call the 800#, I spoke to someone about my account. In October, I had an attorney call me to advise me of a settlement offer on one of my accounts, but the amount was still to high for me, so I refused it. I recently got the message from them telling me my account is now going to Frederick Law Group, but I haven't dealt with them yet. My account is debited by them and goes to Global Client Solutions and I get a statement from them every month. One month I couldn't make my payment, I called the law office and they didn't debit my account like I asked. I can assure you I do not work for him, but I've only used them for debt settlement. I have also settled some of my own accounts. We are down to 50k from 70k now. But, we can't file bankruptcy, so debt settlement is our best option to get out of debt. Dealing with them helps to show that I'm working out my debts. Plus, any extra money we get, we attempt to send extra or pay off something. Anyway, I'm not saying whether he is great or not, or that he hasn't screwed anybody over. I'm just sharing the experience I had with them so far.

WOW!!! SOOO many complaints about a 'well known' Law office. Gosh!1 I've never dealt with this Law office, but, I guess I can 'add to my list' who NOT to use.
