Did you make a payment arrangement with MCM and then not stick to it? Is this the first you've heard from them? Is the debt yours?

We did make a payment arrangement with them but we couldn't afford it and I called to change the amount and they said no. It is our debt but per our credit report it has been charged off by the company.

If you had an arrangement and you defaulted on the arrangement, you're going to need to call them and try to work out another one you can stick to.

Since you didn't stick to the original arrangement, they're not likely to be as agreeable this time.

Ok, so I spoke with MCM and they will no longer accept any payments unless the account is paid in full. I advised them that we can't do that and offered $50 per month. They said we can send that in but it may not stop any legal proceedings. What do you recommend?

The letter they sent states call today to discuss your account and a new payment arrangement. Now they say no arrangements?

That is their arrangement at this point. They're within their rights to ask for payment in full.

Thanks! I ended up calling for a supervisor and was able to reinstate my previous payment arrangement and should be fine as long as I stick with it as agreed.
