Since you have already paid off the Federal Tax, you should consult an attorney to have it removed from the report. Your attorney will apply for a "Release of Federal Tax Lien" for you that will confirm that the debt has been repaid in full and you do not have any outstanding debt with the IRS. The IRS will remove the tax lien within 30 days and you will receive a copy of the "Release of Federal Tax Lien??? certificate.

I just disputed my paid tax lien (actually my ex husbands) on all 3 credit reports, and it was removed from all 3 promtly. I believe it was a lien from 7 years prior though. But try disputing it and see what happens before you sink money into an attorney.
