I am owing money in student loans that has now gone to collections (I am in the province of Alberta). I have not had an income greater than $12,000 canadian a year since I've been out of school so I have had no way of paying it back. I want to start a cleaning business, and would like to start making payments. If the business is registered in my name, will they be able to seize my assets or any profit made by the business or will I have the freedom to allocate a percentage of my earnings to paying them back? Do they have a right to my earnings or only my tax returns?
