Can they really do what they say?

I just got a phone call, at work, & was told that if I don't bay them 330.50 by 3:00 end of today today (1/12/07), they would file charges against me. The offices of Phillip Abernathy said that they could not fax me any of the information, but that the company that I supposedly borrowed money from has sent me letters & e-mails, which I never got. Does anyone know what I can do?

Welcome to the Forums :D Read through all the posts in this link, they talk about Phillip Abernathy and pay day loans at http://www.debtconsolidationcare.com/settlement/regain-control.html Do not send any money until you read these, also do no give out bank info, or they will clean out your account. If this is on a store front pdl, make arrangements with them. They are more likely to do something. The internet ones usually operat illegally anyhow. Good Luck, keep us posted..Karen

Not to worry...they are just trying to scare you into paying the money. It is very illegal for them to threaten you and their are no charges that are going to be filed against you. This is just a collection agency and they are required by law to send you something in writing once you request it. Let them know you will be reporting them to the Attorney Generals office. Tell them you know your rights and once you see something on paper then you will discuss payment options with them. Be strong and don't let them intimidate you. Also let them know that you will no longer accept calls at work, because your employer does not allow it.

Do you remember the name of the PDL you had the loan with?

That is Platinum B Servies, they also go by SJM Marketing and Your Cash.
Did you have any PDL's out? You may want to check your bank statements and verify if you have any transactions with either of these names on it.
Their contact number is 1-866-722-2770, call them and see if they have record of you applying for a loan and when this transaction was supposed to have taken place.

I had one loan with SJM Marketing, I paid them in full & then some because they kept taking money out of my account to the point that I had to close it. I will be contacting them with all of that information. Thanks for the help.
