Question about loan verification for consolidation loans
I am in the middle of a loan consolidation of multiple student loans. I have a prior consolidation loan in addition to sub/unsub staffords to consolidate from multiple lenders and I am seeking to consolidate them through Sallie Mae.
All of my lenders have submitted the required verification paperwork requested by Sallie Mae (by law they have 10 days to provide the information), EXCEPT the Federal Direct Loan program through which I have 2 years of sub/unsub graduate loans. I have contacted the Direct Loan servicing center on multiple occasions, and they claim that they have sent the requested information 3 times, twice electronically and once by fax at my request.
Sallie Mae claims that they have not received the paperwork, and a condescending jackass of a manager named Jack Swift informed me that the Direct Loan servicing representatives were lying to me in order to prevent me from taking my loan elsewhere to consolidate. He gave me his phone and fax number and indicated that I should try to get the lender to send it to his number directly and he would bet money that they won't bother.
I haven't yet called back the Direct Loan servicing folks-- I'm so mad I'm about to throw things. I was wondering if anyone had run into a similar problem, Mr. Swift claims that this is happening all over the place. I'm going to try to get to a manager at Direct Loan who can print my information then walk it over to the fax machine (normally, you put in a request that takes 24-48 hours to "process"). I've emailed the federal student aid ombudsperson. What else should I do? I'm scrambling to submit forebearance requests to all my other lenders so that my credit doesn't take a hit.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Don't take it otherwise, it sounds very funny that Direct Loan Servicing rep is lying to consumers. However it is very unnatural that they sent all the paperwork three times, but you have not got it. Do they have correct contact information of yours? Verify it.
Don't get upset. The idea of contacting someone from higher authority is excellent. Hope your problem will be taken care of.
Did you get this loan through your school? In that case you can contact your school and see what they recommend? You have emailed to federal student aid ombudsperson, hope you get some positive reply very soon.
