Do you think that the third party collection agency(as what Sonic LTD. keeps telling me) would go the extent of taking the matter to court? What is time time frame for the matter to reach that extent?

Creditors and collection agencies can put legal actions in recovering debts which are legitimate.

Notice is served to the consumer before judgment is placed on him. Also, he is asked to appear in the court to complete the legal formalities. Once the judgment is put, garnishments, repossessions are possible.

Though you are going through tough situation, I will still suggest you to make arrangements with your creditors before it is sent to collections. Once it reaches there, your credit file is tarnished.

Propose a certain amount or forward a check to them with the amount. If they encash it, it will be understood that they have accepted your plan and you can keep this account current. Once it’s paid off, your credit report will be updated as 'PAID AS AGREED' to the credit bureaus.
