How do I stop a wage garnishment?
How do I get the IRS to stop garnishing my wages? I owed a tax debt that was paid in full but they continue to garnish my wages to the point where I have now OVERPAID by almost $1000. I spoke to them and they said they were putting a block on any future garnishments but BAM. Get my check and they are stll deducting.
Have you spoken with your payroll department? Has the IRS sent
Have you spoken with your payroll department? Has the IRS sent the paperwork to them to stop the garnishment? Sounds like a communication problem with your employer and the IRS.
The way I stopped the payroll Garnishment
Contact payroll department. get Fax number direct to the payroll department.
Contact IRS collections, They will fax the proper forms to the payroll department.
With IRS collections on the phone contact payroll and verify they have received the documents and that garnishments will stop on next payroll period.
I would also talk to IRS collections in how to recover the over payments. didn't have that issue.
