Better settlement with CA or OC?

This site is great, I'm learning a lot. Just a question. I've got a B of A cc that's nearing the 180 day charge off date (about a month away). Am I more likely to get a better settlement dealing with B of A, or should I let it charge off and try negotiating with the CA. Any examples of personal experiences and what percentage you were able to negotiate would be appreciated. Thanks again for all the great info.

There are plenty of discussions on the board about settling with Bank of America. Using the search box would be helpful.

Now, if you can settle the account before it gets charged off, you can save your credit report from having a negative mark on it. You may call them up to negotiate a settlement. Though customer experiences vary widely but in general BofA is easier to deal with and some of the members have successfully settled with them for even 20% to 25% of the debt amount.

boa just offered us 30% settlement on 35k, this is a first time they have offered a settlement to us. does anyone know if they will go lower...we can maybe scrape together the cash from family (I still have to find another $2k of the $10,700 offer) I would rather not borrow any money from anyone. we have sold items to come up with the rest but are out of stuff.

30% is a pretty good offer.

Mine worked out to 30.1% spread out over 93 days.
