Student Loan
Im receiving calls from FAMS and they are threatening to garnish my wages... I took out a student loan and now Im done with college. I live by myself and have a lot of bills.... I've talked direcly with Sallie MAE about my student loans and they said that I dont have to worry about FAMS garnishing my wages.... They also said that my account is in deferment for a few more months but I can make payments ($71 a month)...Which is fine with me...,The problem is that I want to make payments but FAMS are saying that I must make payments like $300 a month and they have to take it directly from my checking account... I cant afford that kind of payment on top of eveything else.... What should I do????

FAMS is a student loan collection agency and if they are calling you it means that you have a student loan in default...and yes they can garnish you, without taking your to court. Sallie Mae is so wrong to be advising you. Student dont always have loans just from one lender...Perkins are handled differently.
