school closed and student loans

The school i was attending closed before i could finish the program i was enrolled in. I have provided all the paperwork to prove i was a student at the time the school closed to include offical transcripts from the school. It appears that edfund continues to stonwall me. The rep that is working with me continues to denies receipt of the transcript. Can edfund deny dismissal of my loans even though i qualiy under federal laws?

Hopefully you have sent in the paperwork CMRRR then they cannot deny receiving it.

Couple of things on the closed school conditions. You must have been in attendance at the time the school closed. Being out for a semester doesnt qualify. Plus was there a qualified program available and offered to you within a reasonable distance? If your program can be completed nearby at another school, you are obligated to do that.

If you meet the conditions, and you have proof of mailing, you could try contacting the ombudsman.

The school closed totally no campus remained opened.

How do i contact the umbudsman?

Thanks again for your help

School might have closed but was there another school within a reasonable distance you could have completed your program?

From the DOE site...

If the school closed while you were in attendance, then you may be eligible for discharge.
From the DOE
Closed School

If you received a Federal Perkins Loan Direct Loan or FFEL Program Loan on or after January 1, 1986, you may qualify for a Closed School discharge if you (or the student for whom a parent received a PLUS loan) could not complete the program of study for which the loan was intended because the school at which you (or student) were enrolled, closed while you were in attendance, or you (or student) withdrew from the school, or were on an approved leave of absence, not more than 90 days prior to the date the school closed. You must not have completed the program of study through a teach-out at another school or by transferring academic credits or hours earned at the closed school to another school.
