can student loans still garnish my check and income tax if im still in school? or going back to school they told me they where going to garnish my wages and i enrolled back in school, can they still take the wages?


well i got financial aid approved i even got another direct loan approved. i have a deferement with direct loans the ones who are trying to garnish me is us funds aka sallie mae....so if i got approved for financial iad and even got approved for federal loans can they still do it or will they stop ..cause they havent started they just told me they where.

Bottom line...if you are in default on a FFELP loan which sounds like Sallie Mae/USA funds is, you are not eligible for financial aid. When they catch it, they will pull your current aid. If you received pell grants, they will be pulled and you will have to pay it back.

Your FAFSA I believe asks if you are in default. If you answered it incorrectly, you could have other legal problems.
