Student Loans

If you have a student loan you paid on until you lost your job and called Chase Bank to arrange a different payment plan until you were working again and they wouldn't help but demanded full payment and you still paid an amount but not full until you were working can they not accept any payments and demand full payment of the loan? If so and you cannot come up with that kind of money what can they do to you or the cosigner?

I am going to assume this is a private student loan. If you default on a private loan, they can demand payment in full from both your and your cosignor. If you fail to pay, they can sue both off you and then use the remedies of wage garnishment and bank account seizure on both of you.
