Garnishment -Do I have to disclose my roomates information

I have a federal student loan that is in garnishment process. I am in the process of filling out a finanscial hardship form. On the form it asks for my roomates information. His income and Social security # am I obligated to disclose this information. Even if he doesn't want too? Please Help

I would consult an attorney on this one. They want to know household info, but if you are unrelated to your roommate I'm not sure if you have to disclose their info or not.

No you do not have to report his income or ssi if he is strickly a roomate. However you should only be declaring your half of the rent and utilites.

He is part of your family unit then and should be paying his hal

He is part of your family unit then and should be paying his half of all household expenses. You would need to disclose his income but not his SSI#.....they have no reason to ask for the SSI#...they cannot collect from him...he is not party to the debt. However for your income purposes, it would be expected that he is paying half of all household bills including rent, utilities and childcare.
