alternative to private student loans?
I need some advice. Most likely I will be attending a private medical school with costs of attendance of about 48K per year, for four years. I will be applying for any type of loans I can, I guess. As an immigrant I am not super informed though I try to do my research thoroughly.
which loans should I apply for?
is there an alternative to private loans, as they have such bad reputation?
are there major critical facts I need to consider before getting myself into such serious financial commitments?
can I do this without a cosigner.I have a medium quality credit history, meaning one small unpaid bill (around 100$) and i am working on building credit. I don't have family so need to try to do this on my own, no cosigner.
Thanks for all your help, it is appreciated immensely.
Private student loans are the only alternative really to federal
Private student loans are the only alternative really to federal loans.
Talk to the financial aid office at your medical school. They will be the ones in the know on what is available as I am pretty sure there is additional aid available for med students.
it will be a Caribbean medical school for which federal governme
it will be a Caribbean medical school for which federal government offers loans in the same way as for domestic schools. But I wanted to know if anyone has experience in similar situations..
in any case I still could use advice on:

Again check with your school. Out of country schools can present some challenges and right now the private loan market is very tight. I am not sure what federal aid you would be eligible for.
Be careful in choosing your school. I was just browsing thru a google search on foreign medical schools and it appears a lot are not accreditted in the US.
