Trying to figure out garnishments.

Trying to figure out garnishments.
When my garnishments started I had 6 loans total. 5 of the loans were held by the guaranty agency The California Student Aid Commision. 1 of the loans was held by The Education Credit Management Group. For these loans I was getting garnished twice. I assumed it was once for all of the CSAC loans and once for the ECMG loans. This seems to make sense to me as I had thought that I could be garnished a total of 3 times but had only been garnished twice, and as the garnishments were taken out it seemed to make all of the loans smaller. Not just 1 at a time.
They also put a hold on my Fed Tax return and when it came around that first year it actually paid the loan from ECMG off. Again this made sense as from that point on I was only garnished once.
I just did my taxes a couple of days ago(they were e-filed and already accepted by the IRS, but I don't believe they have paid out my tax return yet). And I was suprised to see my paycheck for today once again has 2 garnishments for student loans(I've been getting garnished once for a year now).
So I'm wondering if CSAC can garnish me more than once? Does this have something to do with me filing my taxes? Did my payroll company make a mistake? I had kind of thought that if they could garnish me 3 times then that is what they would be doing. But if CSAC could have garnished me multiple times for the loans I owed them this whole time, then why weren't they doing it?
Just trying to clarify some things, thanks for the help.
CSAC will only garnish you once for all the loans they hold.

Talk to your payroll company to find out who is garnishing you.

My check stub labels my garnishments as student loan 1 and student loan 2.
The NSLDS site should state all of my student loans correct? Because it says that they are all from CSAC. I will call my payroll company tomorrow.

Sooo,
My payroll company says I'm getting a new garnishment that just started March. Their information shows that I paid off my first garnishment for $1,200 to STUMNECM-ECMC, that I have an on going garnishment for $14k to STUDENCCO-NCO Financial Systems Inc, and that I recieved a new one for $4.9k to STUCAEARE-Edfund.
The one I paid off is from ECMG, and the ongoing one is I assume CSAC. I realize that Edfund is a student loan bussiness(guarantor?) but nslds doesn't list any loans for them. I'm not really sure about whats going on.
Also it makes it kind of hard in that my payroll company doesn't have contact info except the names above for who is collecting the debt. I'll probably call Edfund to see if I have loans from them. But shouldn't it say on the nslds site?

Ok...Edfund/CSAC are one in the same
EdFund provides student loan guarantee services to colleges, universities and career schools, working closely with both financial aid administrators and lenders. We are a nonprofit, public benefit auxiliary of the California Student Aid Commission, but we provide our services across the United States. In fact, EdFund is the second largest guarantee services provider in the nation for the Federal Family Education Loan Program.

Alright, as an auxiliary to the CSAC does that mean that I am getting garnished twice by the same place?
My first instinct when I saw that I had 2 garnishments was that I had changed my taxes withholding(from 2-3) and that perhaps when the payroll redid my check they messed up my garnishments.
Another interesting thing is that my original garnishment total for CSAC was as I said around $14k, but the new garnishment that I got this paycheck is also as I said around $4.9k, which is actually close to what I owe CSAC now.
Is it possible that my payroll company is garnishing me twice for the same place? Or is it possible that that CSAC/Edfund is garnishing me twice? Perhaps Edfund sent out new paperwork and with a different company to receive payment on the paperwork payroll set it up as an additional garnishment?
Thank you for your help. Just trying to understand what's going on.

You should have only one garnishment in place for your stafford loans from CSAC/Edfund. Call them...NCO can only speak for what they are assigned so you really need to talk to them.

I have to wait an hour before I can call. And sorry if I'm being obtuse, but when you say NCO you mean that I should call Edfund? I don't know what "assigned" means. Also is there specific questions that would most benefit my situation?

You mentioned STUDENCCO-NCO Financial Systems Inc above....NCO is a CA who was probably assigned the loan. It appears they are administering the garnishment on behalf of CSAC.

Alright thank you. I had just figured that "NCO" was a code identifier for Edfund. I just called them and they said that they had an account for me with Edfund but that it was zeroed for them and released back to Edfund.
Which probably means that I need to call Edfund and then payroll again.

Soaplady, Need your expertise!! Help please. My stepfather claimed me on his return for 2009, I'm a college student and he helps with all expenses. Edu fund called me and wants their payment which they tacked on a huge amount of interest. My stepdad called to see what was due and accidently mentioned that he claimed me. They quickly said that they could garnish his wages for my student loan. Can they garnish his wages even if he was in no way involved with my loan??? Anxious...
they absolutely CANNOT garnish his wages. Did he note the name
they absolutely CANNOT garnish his wages. Did he note the name of the person who said this to him?
Edfund didnt just "tack on" a whole pile of interest...it has been accruing and capitalizing thru the life of the loan. They did assess you collection fees, probably around 18% as mandated by federal law.
