I have three specific debts on my credit report from three different credit agencies. (please note I am 24 and regret the past years of not checking my credit or acknowledgement of the seriousness of debt and credit reports) Anyways, They are all medical bills from a surgery I had 3 years ago. I had no health insurance and it was an emergency. Im looking at around $20,000 for these. I have been studying credit repair etc for a couple months now and am still confused on the way I should do this. I would even take a referral to a lawyer or company that would just go through my report with me and answer the questions I have..it just seems that everyone I call just wants to do debt settlement and such..but I want to know these are mine! Is that completely possible since its been 3 years? Two of the agencies I never received a bill from that I am aware of and in the past I have been abused by these companies..but back then I didn’t know that I had rights, I guess..pathetic I know. Do I go to the original creditor (hospital and clinic) or the collection agency or the Credit Reporting Agency first? Do I request validation..or dispute and why. I would like to learn about this through the process and that’s why I would just like advice. I am at my last life with this and I already have a judgment with another…I believe that is wrong also but of course at 20 years old I wasn’t smart enough to dispute…I do understand that process a bit. There just has to be a company or person that strictly gives advice and guidance on understanding credit reports…I cant believe this makes up my life and I have to beg for help. I now have a wonderful career and a small family, I have done very good for myself despite my credit..the most important. This hangs over my head more and more each day and I would do anything for someone to reach out and help. I am willing to pay some kind of fee if it is a program/person that I am looking for. Please help me take the first step to …life.
