civil case against my mother

My mother was in a car accident in 2011. They other person has filed a $24,000,000 civil case against my mother who was disabled at the time of the accident and sustained a traumatic brain injury in the accident. Needless to say she isn't able to make heads or tails of most things. What should we do her only income is SSI and disability payments
