I have also got sucked into using online payday loans to try to make ends meat. Little did I know that Route 66 would be the worst to deal with ever. I had to close my checking account because they kept trying to collect payment from my account. This resulted in hundreds of dollars in overdraft fees. I was pulling my hair out before I found this site and took the advice to close my account. After some time talking with the people at Route 66 they agreed to let me pay the remaining balance (which is way more than the $200 loan I took out) by MoneyGram. I was glad to hear that they would accept a payment that is not ACH out of an account. I think it is worth the $9.95 to get Route 66 off my back. I will never, never, never do another payday loan. Worst choice in my life.

Did you figure out how much you have already paid on the account? This pdl company is in violation of many federal and state laws. They will always insist you to pay more than actual, because they don't follow the laws mentioned in any state. Besides, they aren't licensed in most states. What do you think next?

I got the loan in Sept 06 and have paid over $540.00 to Route 66 and almost $500.00 in overdraft fees from my bank because they kept trying to debit my account. I live in Washington State and I am unsure what their laws are in relation to online payday loans...or what my other options are...should I file a report with the AG?

This company contacted me after more than SIX months after my original loan. My checking account has been closed that long and I thought they were paid in full. Out of the blue, I get a phone call from a guy with heavy Indian accent. He tried to tell me I owed $1350 on original loan amount of $225.00. He was rude and confrontational. Kept saying, "Are you calling me a liar???" When I would ask him to repeat something he would say, "Are you saying my English is bad?" Anyway, I called my attorney who told me to ask them for an itemization. They would not provide it. I called back later in the evening and got a different guy. Clearly, they are in the UK and this guy even told me so. He reluctantly gave me their MoneyGram info. I suggest IF you owe them anything, you make them send you an e-mail or letter stating that what you plan to send will close your account. Here is the info:
