It sure does have an affect on your credit that is long term. WHat type of debt do you owe??
If you must use a debt management company, use a NON PROFIT like Consumer Credit Counselling Service...they are nation wide and have low fees. For profit companys like Pacific Debt are more concerned with their fees instead of results.

Anything that deviates from the contractual agreement will have a negative impact on the credit until all of the delinquencies are satisfied.
