What is the timeline on debt? When will the debt get off from my credit report? When will I have no legal obligation for the debt? A collection company is calling me regarding a debt in Livermore, California.

What type of debt?? As a general rule, they will come off after 7 years. Legally you still owe it. However depending on the type of debt, they can no longer sue you depending on type of debt.
Certain debts like IRS, child support and student loans have no SOL and can be collected on right up to garnishing your social security.

Have you contacted the collection agency regarding the debt? Did you send a debt validation letter? The SOL period is 4 years. You're legally responsible for the debt if the SOL period is not yet over.
