Nfcc.org reviews - Is it a good resource to find out a good company

Is nfcc.org a good resource for me when trying to find a reputable debt management company? They seem to have some good info. Anyone ever use this site for help in finding a company to work with?

I found my company from this website....They were extremly helpful for me. I did try an internet company for 2 years and was never successful in paying anything off (that company now has a lawsuit pending against them).
The nfcc.org directed me to a local non-for profit agency in my community that I worked with. I loved it, because I was able to sit with my counselor face to face and see everything on paper right away. She was also familiar with the state laws and she was also familar with all of my local creditors and collection agency's. Whenever I had a question or needed to make a change, she was just a phone call away with a direct line and when I left a message she was always quick to call me back that day or the next day. I know it will vary from state to state though.

They didn't stress me about a fee, the most I had to pay them a month was $20, but they were so into helping people that if it wasn't affordable every month, they didn't worry about it. Also when I had to take my credit counseling class prior to my bankruptcy getting discharged, they didn't make me pay the $50 fee, because at the time it was hard for me to pay that on top of the bankruptcy amount.
Like I said earlier, it may be different from state to state and location to location.

I live on the southside of chicago,we have close to 25,000.00 credit debt/we also have a morgage on our home plus we have a home equidy loan.we'd like to pay off the credit card debt but its kind of hard when the finance rate is at 19 percent or 29.WE'D be willing to work with someone to pay off the principal with lower percent rate .I hear about people all the time getting credit application in the mail to transfer their accounts to anouther company with lower rates for a extended amount of time ,Iwouldn't mind trying that but personly I'd just rather pay off what we owe them with out the high rate .Can you steer us in the right direction or give us info. to who we should contact.--thank you
