Debt Settlement

I had been with a debt settlement co (Re-liance Inc) for 3 years. They settled 2 of the the 3 credit cards I owed. Now it looks like they have closed shop. The last time I spoke with them in Feb/Mar, I was told to contact them again, once I was ready to settle with the last Credit Card Co and had 50% of what I owed. I've been trying to reach them since May, but to no avail. Until last week they still had a website. What do I do? My redit report says that the account was charged off. What does that mean? I received 1099 forms from the other 2. How can I settle this last one? thanks.....Caroline
