Today I was contacted about a judgement in the state of ohio for citibank/goodyear and the man stated there was a court date on 1/6/09 but I had moved to tennessee on 12/18/08 and was never notified of the court date. They now want me to pay 1987.00 to them and he also stated that the judgement can be in effect for 20 years. What should I do here? I thought these things fall off after 7 years. The account had a last payment made in 2003 but the judgement is from 2009? what happens if i dont pay?

The SoL in Ohio is 6 years. You need to verify a couple of things now:
1. The exact last day of payment against the account in 2003
2. Does the judgment appear on your credit report?

If you are lucky, the last date of payment would be somewhere before 01/06/2003

Remarks fall off your credit report after 7 years. That time frame has nothing to do with your debts or judgments.
