can the IRS use student loans to offset my tax refund?? What is considered a federal agency? My tax refund was offset but I dont know why. All I have is a student loan that is deferred and a dui that I have been trying to pay off. Can the IRS offset for that?? Please help

You should have received a letter informing you which agency submitted the tax offset. I am betting it is your DUI. State agencies can also offset your taxes.

Are you sure your all of your student loans are current? None are in default?
