How to know whether or not a consolidation plan is good

Is it ok to continue with the consolidation company if I have to pay more or less the same amount on my debts, to the consolidation company, which I used to pay in total for all my debts. However, they have said that the interest rates will be reduced. How will I know it is a good plan?

First of all, before enrolling in a consolidation program, get to know every detail. You don't have to pay for it. You ask about how long it'll take to clear debt if you make the agreed-upon payments. Moreover, the debt relief companies can't charge anything before providing you with any service. Yout monthly payable amount needs to be less than the sum total what you're paying now, that is, the minimum payments.

That doesn't make sense. If the consolidation company negotiates with your creditors and lower interest rates, then your monthly payments should also be less. Right? If you have to pay more or less the same amount, then the plan is not good.

Firstly, check whether or not the consolidation is accredited by Better Business Bureau (BBB). And if you have to pay almost the same amount you owe, then I would say that it's not a good plan. Try to approach a good consolidation company!
