Card Protection Claims Payment Problem
Date: Sun, 09/16/2012 - 21:27
Hello Nelly,
I was persuaded to purchase Fia Card Services Card Protection Plan for which I???m paying monthly.
I was convinced that this plan would pay my monthly minimum if I could not, due to certain life events or hospitalization.
After much correspondence over many weeks, the Plan approved two claims I submitted (hospitalization in March, 2012 and life event in October, 2011). But they paid it to Fia Card Services, on my account, in such a way that the plan does not benefit me. Rather, it has caused me to owe more on my account. They invited me to submit my complaint in writing, expediting my submission by fax within a few hours (of when I spoke to them at that time). I faxed that letter to them around midnight that day. That was in June, 2012. Since then, I have been told many times that this letter was not yet read or considered. In the meantime, I am suffering late charges and larger interest amounts. My loss is getting increasingly worse.
The main problem is in how the plan was applied to my claims.
If necessary, I could send you the details. For now, I would like to complain about this Card Protection Plan to any government authority responsible for regulating such credit card protection plans.
Can you kindly provide me the name and/or contact info for such a department? I would be grateful, Thank you.
