Storefront payday loan

I have several storefront payday loans that i just went into default with last week i am in ohio. I'll be honest i haven't contacted any of them because i really don't know what to tell them other than i can't pay at this time. But my question is advance America sent someone to my house i wasn't home but they left a note with my husband is this legal?

It probably is legal, since you are married, but not sure. My advice is, contact them, or go in person is better, explain your situation, and try to get something worked out with them. Store fronts generally obey the laws of the state, and are the ones you have to worry about taking you to court. The store fronts ked with, worked with me when I couldn't pay.Good Luck-keep us posted,,,Karen

trish, sassnlucy is our Ohio person. She's good with the state law regarding pdl's. What kind of note did they leave with your husband? Odd. I still can't get over that some of these places actually go to people's homes. Amazing. However, for your peace of mind and also to refrain from having any other "visitors" at your home, call the store fronts. Tell them your bank is account is screwed up. Tell them the funds are not there. Tell them you need to make payment arrangements. And only agree to an amount that you can actually pay. Store fronts are legal. You need to deal with them. Call each one, tell them "a story"/whatever, and try to set up payments with them. This will prevent you from getting into any kind of trouble and also it'll prevent futher visits to your home. But stick to a payment you can make. As I stated, they are legal, so you want to stay on the "right" side with them. Don't hide from them (they'll just knock on your door apparently!). Call them up. It's easier on the phone than in person. I think so anyway! Please keep us posted as to how it's going!

Trish, Advance America is scary but the best thing to do is get ahold of them and make payment arrangements. They will keep bothering you if you don't. They will try to bully you into making bigger payments than you can afford but do not let them. If you make them regular payments, like on every payday, they will work with you. YOu can do this. Trust us. It will be ok!! :):) We are here for you. They came to my house too. Scared the heck out of me!!!

I thought in OH(which is where I resided when I got into my mess) checked to see how many you had before you got a loan because if you already had one out, then they wouldn't give you one? I had no trouble with Advance America, in fact they send me coupons all the time LOL Like I am going to fall for that trap again! Take the advice given and be strong! Do not let these places intimidate you!

You know, Leah, they're SUPPOSED to check to see if you have any other pdl's out. According to whatever state, it can't be over the maximum allowed amount of pdl's or the maximum amount of dollars. But, what I've found out is that that they DON'T check. They will ask you "Do you have any other loans out?" You say "No". End of story. Maybe if they DID check, people wouldn't get into such trouble. Them just asking, of course, the person is going to say "no" so they can get the pdl.
