Langhorne is not answering my emails
I retained Langhorne Law but I do not think they have contacted anyone yet. They are very nice when I do get ahold of someone, and seem very understanding. But every email I have sent to them has been unanswered. I work during the hours of their operation, so I can only email.
The eerie part is, I have only heard from a couple of them, and mostly by email. 2 of them have called my cell and work. But they are just leaving messages to call them back. I read all of these horror stories on here about the threats etc, and I was expecting the same. So I guess I am asking, does that all come later? I did get an email from my cash now talking about contacting the FBI. It made me laugh.
The other eerie part is that my bank told me if anything else hit my account, it would reopen my account and there was nothing I could do. The lady at Langhorne suggested I call my bank and tell them to freeze my account because there was fraudulant activity on it. They wouldn't do it because I had already closed the account. But I have not heard a peep from my old bank either. Before if I had bounced something, I got something in the mail within a couple of days. I can still log in online to the account, and it is still showing a zero balance.
It is making me nervous that everything has been so calm. I keep expecting the worst. I am wondering if I am going to get a letter from the bank in a couple of weeks stating I owe a bunch of money. The only thing is I don't think they reopened the account or paid anything out because the contact I am getting from the IPDLS is stating my payment was returned account closed.
Anyone have this experience?
shelly
shelly, when did you close your account out? Apparently, I'm going to assume, in enough time for them to have it actually CLOSED before your pdl's hit it. Since your pdl's are contacting you because they're not getting their payments, that means your bank is rejecting them. This is a good thing. As for being contacted by your pdl's, are you just giving them Langhorne's telephone number and telling them to contact them? I mean, that's what you're paying them for. They can contact Langhorne if they have a problem. Part of using Langehorne is so that you won't have to deal with the pdl's contacting you. If they keep calling you, give them Langhorne's telephone number, tell them to speak to them, and then hang up. Don't get frightened. Enjoy the "calm" while it lasts. With luck, things are actually going your way and it might be all okay! :D

Yes I closed it out the day before the PDLS were to hit. That in itself had scared the crap out of me since my bank said they would still put things through. But I had went into 2 branches and talked to the managers, called their 800 number, and called another manager that I knew personally. All of them said I couldn't stop it, so I am wondering if one of them did have a change of heart after talking to me and changed it. I am totally going to pay back what I owe to these people but I was expecting the nightmare that most have had with trying to get out of their mess. I hope it stays this calm. I am hoping all of my prayers about this situation worked hehe. Or maybe it is all still going to hit the fan. Who knows. All I know is this week has been the best week I have had in a while. I have been so stressed over these loans, and what was going to happen when I closed my account. That's why I waited until the day before the PDLS were due to close it, because I was scared to do it. But I did, and I got my paycheck last week, and haven't been harrassed. Breathing easy is nice.
shelly
shelly, let's just say that apparently your bank decided to cooperate with you! :D Since you "knew people" at the banks, that might have made a difference. If the pdl's were rejected last week by your bank, they more than likely will be rejected again this week. Isn't it wonderful not to have 8,000 debits taken out when you get your paycheck? It's the best feeling around! Keep us posted as to how things are going!

Yeah, it seems to me that someone did have a change of heart and put a block on. That's the only way to explain why your account didn't reopen. Because the pdl's surely tried to put the payments through.
That is great news for you! Yay!
And the threatening calls may not come at all for you. Maybe once they realize that you hired Langhorn they will just leave you alone. They know that he's a lawyer and can really hit them where it hurts.
I believe they do advise you to close your checking account.

I am considering using Langhorn for my pdl debt. Are you having any luck with them yet???
Bank Account
My bank stopped payment on all my payday loans when I asked. They also stopped everything else coming through my account. They would not close the account until all checks were cleared though. 1 was still hanging out there. So, in the meantime, I accumulated about $900 worth of NSF fees when those sneaky PDLs started using check numbers with the debits. Today, my bank sent a letter saying my accout was charged off and I have been reported to ChexSystems. I can't win but, at least the PDLs are not getting my money.

guest, when your bank blocked your account, did they just do an ACH debit block? So then your pdl's started putting through electronic checks.... So they didn't do a hard debit block. Great. Now you're account is in the negative. Are they making you pay all the fees? I know on one hand it's good that the pdl's aren't able to get their money any longer. But on the other hand, are you stuck with all the fees left on your account from the electronic checks from the pdl's? Are they not going to reverse those off, as they know they are illegal pdl debits?
Not all banks will do that Cannr...I was left with all the nsf c
Not all banks will do that Cannr...I was left with all the nsf charges even after I showed the bank I revoked the ach's. I have written letters to every place associated with the bank...and ended up having to make payments arrangements on the overdrafts...
I am in the same boat at this point, Morningstarr430! I am 1135

I am 1135 in the red at the old bank. All I can do is pay it off little by little and hopefully it won't affect any other accounts.

Okay. See what I mean about my post the other day about slitting my wrists on the banks steps? LOL! Is this what we need to do to get some kind of positive reaction from these banks? Throw ourselves down on the ground and put a knife to our necks? Claim they are forcing us to do this to ourselves because they won't help? Okay, I'm getting carried away here. But I'm beginning to just want to stuff my money in my mattress like Jed Clampet or something.
Yeah, me too! But, the little time we went with no bank account
Yeah, me too! But, the little time we went with no bank account really SUCKED!!!! No debit card, no atm card, OMG, how did people function with no bank account? My parents never had one until we were all grown, is that not the craziest thing?

Do not judge people. We do not do that on this forum. We feel as though we are above that. Every individual is a respectable person. Every individual has their own unique situation. What if this involved a seriously ill child and money was needed ASAP? What if there was no family or anyone to turn to in a time of need to help a sick family member who had to be taken to emergency care? Do not judge people or questions their reasons for what they do until you have walked in their shoes.
