I think it is . . . .when you're dealing with companies like Eastside Lenders. Sending the letter certified mail gives you proof that they actually received it. You may have to send it out several times before you get a response . . . . Just be patient and keep at them!

I kind of lied to Eastside Lenders and told them I would send the money via moneygram, just to buy some time. I probably shouldn't have done that, but I am sending them a letter today via certified mail. I want to fax it to them as well, but do not have a fax number.

I don't blame you for telling them that, you did what you had to do. Make sure you file complaints against Eastside Lenders and let them know you have done that.

Bublefan1, don't send money to Eastside Lenders now. Draft a letter with the laws of your state and ask them to prove how they show an outstanding balance. Tell them that you will be showing their response to your attorney general for further advice and you don't deny paying if there is an outstanding balance. Email a copy of this letter to your attorney general also.

I do not owe any money to Eastside Lenders! I have overpaid on this loan by almost $200.00. I just filed a complaint with the Florida Department of Financial Regulation and will also file a complaint with the attorney general

Make them say that you don't owe anymore, because right now they want you to send $287.50. If they don't send you anything, be sure to get your account marked PIF

I received a letter from them. I owe them and haven't paid any on it yet. They blew off my "state laws" and claim they abide by Delaware and will spout off their state laws to you. The claimed they are prepared to go to arbitration, blah, blah, blah. I wouldn't Money Gram ANYONE money. The letter is from Eastside Lenders 103 Foulk Rd, Suite 101, Wilmington, DE 19803. The number they told me to call regarding my loan is 800-689-5603 to make payment arrangements. When I do contact them, if they want a Money Gram, they can kiss my a$$. They will keep claiming Delaware laws. Unless you're in Delaware, keep sending them your state laws. Don't give in. They're nuts, too. Along with the rest of them. But at least this is the address their correspondence came from for you.

Poor Business Practices
It is a shame. I applied several years ago for a loan. I was approved, but had to use one of the banks they recommened. They sent the money, but it never showed up in my account. After a 3-way call to the bank, the bank verified receiving the funds. The next call to the same back, they said the money was never received. My statements showed that I did not received the money. I offered to help them retreive their funds. . . they just kept saying I owe the money, but I refused to pay because I never received the funds. I recently needed extra funds to fix an issue in my house. I found out that they had black marked me and I cannot get another "short term loan" from anyone. So theor solution was to make life difficult for me rather than use my services to help obtain a return of their funds.

RIPOFFF STAY AWAY they will over charge you and try and keep you on their system as long as possible. I tried to pay it off with a credit card they accepted took the # and never ran the card next month I got a 100.00 deduction from my account. I paid 1435. for a 600. loan!!!! worse than organized crime.. will file a letter with state atty gen. office and bbb. along with state financial reg. office STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY
Over charged!
Hi,
I took out a loan for $300 with them and I decided to file BK.
I decided to be moral and eventhough times are tough I vowed to pay my bills, but when I called them to ask about the balance they told me it was $947!! I was pissed to say the least as they tried to justify these charges by asserting that they charged $90 every time the loan came due. I tried to work with them...letting them know that I've decided to not file BK and I would like to work with them and them with me to resolve this account. They wouldn't do it. I have turned my debt over to a debt consolidation company that has an attorney firm that represents them and they settle accounts. I am sure they will run throught the regulations within their state industry. Frustrated and angry because they are the lowest type of corporate thieves because they fly under the radar and prey on people that need their financial assistance and they know that assessing fees of that amount could cause a financial hardship. God bless you and we will get justice.

That is not always true. Some consolidation companies have been known for settling PDL accounts at a much higher balance than legally owed. Causing you more money in the end :?
*FYI*East Side Lenders is ILLEGAL, you should never settle with an Illegal lender. They will try and make you pay $800 on that $300 loan. Please be careful and make sure the consolidation company pays them no more than $300!
Read this on dealing with ILLEGAL lenders. Best of luck

Eastside Lenders are scammers. Everyone lets stop getting payday loans and put these greedy thieves out of business. I'd rather die than EVER take out another payday loan.
Eastside Lenders
Somebody mentioned they couldn't find the cease and desist order from California. I didn't have any trouble finding it, but for those too lazy or unable to figure out how to use a search engine here it is:

Their emails are automated, therefore replying to an email is like trying to communicate with a computer, if you really want to set up a payment with them, load some money on a prepaid card, and call them with the information, after they take their money, cancel the card, and throw it away.

these lenders have your electronic signature on the paperwork stating that the loan is unsecured and follows only their state license or the address of the lender, which sometimes isn't even in the united states. my point is, don't do pdl's online b/c they can roll over fees how they want and can be very difficult to contact

East Side Lenders:
Be very careful with this company. They are very unprofessional and do not reply to emails through customer service. I sent a cease and desist letter and they call anyway every day. They refuse to put in writing my "proposed debt." I never signed a contract with them. I was filling out an online form, but never agreed to any amount. I received a phone call at 9:00 pm that night notifying I was "pre-approved for $700." I never gave consent to this. I didn't call because I didn't trust them. They deposited the money into my account the next day. I sent an email immediately refusing the funds that were still "pending" in my account, and they did nothing. They never replied to the email. 4 weeks passed and 2 deposits were made totaling $420. I allowed the 2 withdrawals and consider them reimbursement. I closed the account to protect my interests, and then the calls and emails starting to come from a Regan. Eventually, you'll receive emails from a woman with a Centrinex email address if something happens. I had asked for prove of a contract, which they refuse to mail. "We don't do mail," the ridiculous woman said. Yet, they can receive mail and faxes. I offered out of good will to pay off the remaining $280 out the $700 via money order, but they said they don't accept payments via postal mail. They call my cell phone every day. They even called my work number one time that I know of. They denied they called my work and said it was a home number. Then, out of a sudden, a contract is emailed as an attachment. The contract has my electronic signature, which I swear I never provided. Also, I was never given a document like this before. I disputed it, and demanded they validate my debt. Nothing has been done thus far. I will be sending out a certified letter for them to cease and desist and I will include my states usury laws. In the letter I am claiming I am technically not a customer because I never gave direct consent for the $700. I told them they need to verify the IP address from where they claim I signed a contract and the time and date of it. I also forwarded them the email to customer service that states I did not authorize the loan and they need to take it back.
I believe they forged my name. What should I do about this? They have also not verified the debt in writing. Please let me know.
Thank you

Have you filed complaints with the BBB, AG, and FTC? I'd start there. I was only able to finally resolve my issue with them via the BBB of Deleware. I would send them a letter, CMRRR. Here's the address:

Scam the scammer
I have read so many people complain about this company.. Nobody told you to E-sign the contract. That said WHY would you people ever give out your real Cell # and work #? I mean you can get a google-voice number that can be used as your home OR work # and Don't tell them the name of your work , Make up a name then use the Google phone# as your work number, you can record a greeting that sounds like it is from a legit company. If they say they cant verify the # just tell them that your company does work for the federal government and that is the only number you are allowed to give out TRUST ME it works every time .Some will want a copy of the latest payroll stub, VERY EASY to cut and paste your way to the pay stub you want them to see. If you are doing the loan with the intention to pay them back then you have no worries BUT if you want to stick it to them then get as many Loans as you can with the above mentioned techniques load up yor bank account then either close it OR if you liie the bank just tell the bank that a box of checks went missing and that you would like to get another account set up and to clse the other one, again WORKS EVERYTIME. As for the SS# they ask for, you just might accidentally invert the last few numbers or the first few numbers. The first 3 numbers tell you what state the SS# was issued from. you can google for what # go with what states.. is it legal NO but it wont fall on your Credit report or anybody else for that matter Most PDL places dont run your credit they use places like CL verify so using a somewhat bogus SS# will throw them off and keep them away from you
I too am dealing with ESL
I am dealing with Eastside Lenders, I am in Florida. I sent them the illegal lender letter per The Florida Office of Financial Regulation. They will say they do not have to be licensed in your state, but according to mine they do. If the loan is made by an illegal lender then the contract is Null and Void per the state regulatory agent. They sent me their bogus email regarding the loan was made in Delaware, laws governing this loan are Delaware, YADA, YADA. Well when I sent them notice that I made a complaint against them, they immediately referred it to Allied Asset Management (their Florida Collection Agency). Oh they called immediately with their threats and as soon as I gave them the case # and name of the investigator they changed their tune quickly. Have not heard from them again, and do not think I will. Stand your ground and keep fighting.
