National Payday

Does anyone know anything about National Payday? I borrowed $400 and have paid back over $800 and they say I still owe another $300. Below is an email that I received from them. Any ideas?

You are hereby notified that your electronic payment for check numbered 1234, in the face amount of $75 issued by you on 4/11/2008 drawn upon (my bank) and payable to NationalPayday.com has been dishonored.

Pursuant to the law, you have 48 hours from receipt of this notice to render payment of such check, plus a service charge of $25.00, in the amount of $99.70. Your total amount due is currently 298.51.

Payment in full at this time is not required if we receive the minimum payment specified. Unless this amount is paid within the time specified above, the holder of such check may turn over the dishonored check and all other available information relating to this incident to the State's Attorney's office for criminal prosecution. You may be additionally liable in a civil action for triple the amount of the check, a NSF fee, court costs, reasonable attorney fees, and incurred bank fees.

You will also be reported to a national database which every loan company uses, stating that your account was in default. You will never be able to receive another loan from a loan agency that utilizies this database. You will also not be able to pay with a check at some of your favorite local retailers. If a retailer uses Tele-Track or Scan, then your personal check will not be accepted. Examples of retailers who use this system are Wal-Mart and Sears.

Most states have laws that state that unpaid checks up to $149.00 are first degree misdemeanors, punishable by up to a $1,000.00 fine and/or one (1) year in the county jail. Checks over $150.00 are third degree felonies punishable by up to five (5) years in the state prison and/or a fine of $5.000.00.

If you would like to prevent legal action, you need to call our office IMMEDIATELY to make payment arrangements

I forgot to mention that I am in Kentucky. I have already closed my account because of other pdl's that I have learned are illegal through this website.

I have 48 hours to respond, so I would really appreciate some help.

Thanks!
