Is my situation strange, or is it me??
I had two loans with Oneclick and United and sent them my revocation letters over a month ago. I filed complaints with the NY AG and FTC.
I have not heard a peep from these guys. Is that bizarre or what??
I know I'm lucky, but it's also making me a bit nervous, I know these guys are like snakes just waiting to strike.

It really is hit or miss with these companies. There is no logic behind how they act. The same company will cave immediatly with no trouble for one person, then hold out and be nasty to the next. There is no rhyme or reason to them.

I agree..I never heard a peep out of United either, then I got a "courtesy" email about 6 months after I told them I wouldn't pay them anymore telling me they were sure it was an oversight on my part, but I owed them money. I re-sent the email telling them I wasn't going to pay them, and I never heard from them again..And that was a year and a half ago.

I also defaulted with United cash loans, and have not heard a peep from them. I stopped wondering why and just enjoyed the silence from them.
Jen, do you think they are not calling people in New York, because of the legal issue
united cash loans
it took them several months, but I finally heard from them. Of course they want WAY TOO MUCH MONEY! will be filing another complaint with the AG with this new ridiculous amount. Also have ordered old bank statements as I've dealt with them for years and plan on asking for a refund for those years as well!

And I, on the other hand, had a loan out with United and heard from them within 4 days after my default. They called my job, in fact. I think you might just want to leave it alone until they realize they aren't going to get their ridiculous fee money. Just enjoy it while it lasts. Who knows...maybe they will never contact you. :-)

Kash, that did occur to me about the legal issue thing...I guess time will tell. I still haven't heard anything back from the AG here in NY, my guess is that they are having a hard time contacting MTE...

May I step in here? Regarding MTE, you know I can't keep my face out of it. Do NOT let your guard down regarding them. As you are all aware (very much so), I have not "settled" with any of my MTE's. None. Ever since, I have not been contacted by them. However, as I posted the other day, they put a USFastCash through on my old bank account after almost 3 months of nothing. They are waiting. They have not forgotten about you. And, no, it's not a "legal" issue. Internet lending is illegal in New York. Internet lending is illegal in my state. However, they tried to bite me in the ass (well, actually they did). Doesn't matter legal/illegal, since they're illegal anyway. Do not think they've forgotten you. It might be months, but they will strike.
Believe me Cann, I am keeping your experience in mind. But,
Believe me Cann, I am keeping your experience in mind.
But, since my bank account is closed that they had access to, I HOPE that I don't run into the same issues you had. I think your problem had more to do with your bank than MTE. Of course, what MTE did was illegal and totally wrong, but the bank should not have done what they did to you.
jen
You're right. This was more of a bank issue; however, it opened my eyes that MTE hasn't "forgotten" me. They've been trying and trying and finally got through. They're not done with me. They'll probably still be trying 40 years from now. A$$holes. Apparently my name is at the top of the "bad girl" list at MTE. LOL! You're name might be right underneath it! "DO NOT FORGET ABOUT THESE PEOPLE!:"

It seems really sad to me that we kind of have to be looking over our shoulders for the rest of our lives for these jokers. I mean, it's like being stalked!

I think that's what got me down today. I keep thinking "Good Lord. Will it be 30 years from now and I'll still be checking bank accounts, sending complaints, getting responses, making copies, sending emails, etc." It's like living like some kind of criminal that escaped prison and has to be parnoid every morning when they wake up & wonder what the hell is going to happen today! I'm getting tired of it, as you can tell from today! But I'm tried of living like some kind of fugitive that "everyone is after". God............. :(

I really HOPE that someday in the near future these places are outlawed, but I'm not holding my breath. There's has to be light at the end of the tunnel. It's kind of the same thing with collection agencies on old debts, they can stalk you for years after the statute of limitations has expired on the debts, but that doesn't keep them from trying! The really sad thing is that there are so many uneducated consumers out there who just pay them because they think they have to.
Your right Jen...that is the sad part and I wish we could take o
Your right Jen...that is the sad part and I wish we could take out an add in the center of every newspaper and tell people not to do it!! But we can't.
I wouldn't worry too much about MTE...I have/had 3 under them and all 3 responded differently to ecerything I did...and look at Cannr...when they are ready they will call, etc. I used to complain too that I hadn't heard from any of my prls...and then they all started calling, emailing the same week...like they are all on the same clock/calendar...LOL
