Cash-Installment.Com & West River Cash

Hi-Can you tell me if Cash-Installment.com and West River Cash are legal in the state of north carolina?

One is an installment loan and the other is a payday loan, should I handle the 2 separately?

I've already shut my account down and now I'm trying to follow up and settle with them.

Cash-Installment.Com=$500 loan, paid $400.68

West River Cash=$300 loan, paid $651.00. They claim to be a tribal lender & say they aren't governed by US law so is this one worth disputing?

Payday lending is illegal in NC, tribal lenders more so. Do not fall for the BS about tribal immunity and state laws not applying to them. They are illegal. Period. Moreover, you being the resident of NC are only subject to Federal laws and NC state laws, not tribal laws. Revoke ACH in writing as well as any voluntary wage assignment. For more information on how to deal with illegal lenders, read the eponymous sticky on top of the Payday Loan help forum. Follow EVERY step.

As for Cash-Installment.com, I will have to dig a little deeper and if I find any information, I will post it here.

Great News on the Cash-Installment.. Keep us posted on other progress. great news indeed since it looked like you still owed about $100 towards principal - I would print that out and keep in a safe place.

All lenders are illegal in NC. You owe nothing more than the principal. No interest…no fees. You have done the right thing by closing down your bank account. Don’t worry, they can’t do anything.

I'm curious about cash-installment as well. Are they legal? No where on their site do they list a city, state or anything.

I too have a loan thru cash-installment and I'm in Michigan. I sent my ach and C&D letter 2 weeks ago and they have yet to contact me. I've paid back the principal and everydaybinsend the letter they are illegal and nothing. I know they are not legal in Michigan, I called the state that regulated payday loans and they stated they have to be located and have a Michigan Payday loan license from Michigan which they do not. They did listen to revoking ach but other than that I've heard nothing.

Mitch, I'm in Michigan as well and have a loan through cash-installment. After looking at my loan documents they are based out of St.Louis. or so the document says. I know here in Michigan lenders must be licensed and i believe installment loans aren't allowed. I have a $450 loan with cash-installment..i have to pay back $1100 on this small loan. Michigan only allows lenders to charge $15 for every $100 borrowed. Still questioning the legality of cash-installment.

Cash-installment is definitely illegal. I'm 100% positive. I called the State if Michigan to inquire. They HAVE to be from Michigan in order for them to loan which they are not. And they do not have a payday loan license thru Michigan which was told to me by a state employee. They are illegal. Send your ach rev and C&D letter. I sent it to them a couple weeks ago and they have not debited my account, but when I log in it says I'm past due. They can take their past due and shove it, especially since I've paid back the principal. Have you paid back the original principal balance? Either send your letter and pay back on your terms. I'll keep you posted if I hear anything back.

I've yet to receive anything from them. I signed the loan document and was approved however they called wanting $67 up front first so they can know to trust me. They claimed they needed the %67 because my credit is "shakey" I thankfully haven't given them anything ..I'm just worried because i already signed the loan documents. The Guy was ignorant on the phone when i questioned the $67.

If I were you, I would close my bank account immediately as anyone who asks for money prior to loaning money is defintely a fraud. Not sure of your situation, but paydayloans are the worse kind of loan to get. Maybe you can ask a relative....just saying.
