Hello group, what's the buzz word today?Somone here want to talk about the news? What's a good topic here to disucss?Does anyone know about credit repair?I'm a new member here so just want to say hello.---------------------------------------Credit Repair Blog

I've been on here off and on most of the day. Just tryin' to field the occasional Thanksgiving day question. Spent some quality time clearing out some spam, while I was at it.

Everybody, please look at the posts you're approving in the 'moderators section.' I've cleaned up several threads with 2 or 3 of these 'RichVacay' spambot posts each. And this gem...

No fewer than ten assorted copies of the same spam, in a single thread. Looks like the last couple were still in the mod queue, but somebody had to have approved the others. Why?

don't know.i never even went into the mod section.just manually deleted from the forum as there were a bunch not moderated,or approved already.that's weird that some would be validated.maybe a glitch as i can't see anybody knowingly letting those go.

I'm aware of this but unfortunately there is no way we can block a bot that is posting as guest. :( The IP block option would block many legitimate guest posters as well. I have already informed the tech department about this issue. So, hopefully there would soon be a solution. But for the time we would need to fight it manually. :(

When you talk to the tech folks... Please ask them if there's any way they can give us (mods) a better search engine. Perhaps the vBulletin internal search engine might do the job. Ideally, I'd like to have the ability to search on a text string, and have the system return all posts containing that string. That would allow us to zero in on all the instances of a particular bot spam, and zap them all at once. Sure would free up a lot of mod hours for the more important stuff, like helping people. The Google custom search at top/right ain't getting it. It's too clunky, and returns threads only.

It would also be extremely handy to be able to limit searches by board, username, and date range. If the code's written right, it could be used to target the 'RichVacay' name, despite the annonymous posting. It's just one more field in the database, after all. I don't know the limits of the DCC tech department, so I'm just gassing on at present. Have we got an in-house PHP developer, or just technicians?
