Soooooo much spam !!

There was so much spam that it was almost impossible to delete it, over a 1000 posts of spam and so much more! I can hardly post, can't reply to any threads because all this spam with scripts on the pages slow me down to almost a halt. I have been here an hour and all I have done is delete spam, and there is still more to delete! This is out of hand, I'm not kidding.

This forum is extremely slowwwwwwww, I am assuming it's because of all the spam. I have noticed that there are scripts written into the titles of some of these spam posts also, my anti-virus program popped up a few times while I was attempting to delete some of the spam. I just can't keep up with it, I delete one and 100 more spam has been posted.

I haven't been here answering questions because of the bad scripts being used by these spammers, it's causing the website to move slowly as well as infecting my laptop with unknown virus's.

Isn't there a way to stop the spam?

My computer is too slow and after being sick for 2 weeks, I haven't the patience right now. I've answered a few, but I do tend to try to do some on my break/lunch at work, which is now almost impossible with all this spam.

Is this a concerted effort to bring this site down???

I don't know about anyone else, but it's getting tiresome flipping through all the spam. I can't understand why it cannot be blocked. There's a spammer "BikeGessy" - why can that be blocked. There are lots of spam from that person.

Both the spam and the change in crediting us for our hard work. Sometimes it takes me 15 minutes or more to research information for a poster. A poster's vote or one point isn't really incentive enough to spend this amount of time to give a "quality" answer.

I am getting discouraged with this form.

I have seen this format in some craft forums....and quite frankly it sucks. One forum switched back after 2 months. Biggest problem with questions and answers, the voting took stuff out of order....it was a nightmare to wade thru. None of the major credit forums use this format...plus they require everyone to register. They dont have this problem with spam and are quite busy.

I am also very discouraged and frustrated ....this forum has a great bunch of moderators who work hard keeping this forum running. The idiot posters are the ones kicking up the biggest fusses....

Playing Farmville will be so much more hassle free.....

Hello

As you know V Bulletin has inbuilt spam filter plugin which is unfortunately not working properly. We tried to fix that but couldn't. Now we are working on ways to secure the forum from spammer in a different way. So please don't get discouraged. We will soon come out with a solution.
Please bear with us for the time being.

Yup an unregistered user..so we cannot ban user name/email. We banned the ip though.

Same old dilemma :) whether to keep the captcha feature on or not because we noticed a reduction in posts as soon as the captcha feature was turned on. Also any unregistered member wanting to reply was denied posting. This bug prompted us to turn off the captcha feature.

Please note that the spams that you are seeing from the moderation control panel section is not visible to Guest posters/registered members. So even though you moderators are seeing those spams, this site is more or less spam free to them. As you all will know that inorder to reduce the number of spams in our forums, we had installed the moderation panel and this is working fine. However we are worried about spams which don't go to the mod panel and get posted directly in forums. Our tech team is working on it to find a solution.

Like I say always it is very difficult to get a full proof spam free forum and if we be very strict with them, we will have to compromise with registrations :)
