If they accept the payment, then it won't go to collections. But if you're late on payments, unless it's for the entire amount owing, including penalties and late fees, your chances of having it accepted is slim.

This is a good question for the creditor. THey offer all kinds of payment options but be clear in your understanding of how it is reported. Also always get everything in writing and continue to ask for the best terms for youwith out being intimidated. They are in the business of getting the most out of you that they can and wil stop at nothing wihin the legal limit to do it.

It is a BIG myth. If your payment is $50 and you send $5, you are deemed late....it will continue to be late as each reduced payment is made, unless an agreement is made with the creditor. They can send it to collections anytime they please if you are behind.
