New here, need advise. Thanks
Hi all,
My wife and I have both secured and non-secured debt. After working with a debt management company for the past 2 years, and not being late on any payments, we have found that they have not worked in our best interest. We directly pay our secure debt, (never late) and pay the debt mgt. co. for the non-secure, (again, never late) The non-secure debt has fallen late, (some by 3 months)
Here's some possible good news?
All the late items are on my wifes credit ONLY. As a result, her credit has dropped to the 620's
All items on my report are spotless, with my score in the 740's.
Can it cross over to me since we are married. We are in california by the way. I don't want either score to be bad, but am hoping one is better then both.
What do you guys think, and thank you in advance....

Since California is a community property state, the creditors can legally pursue you for the debt acquired by your wife and can also have a judgement against you. However, in many cases the creditors weren't seen to include the other spouse in the lawsuit .
