Do I have to ask the lender and check the credit report and score froma particular bureau before requesting a loan?

There is no need to ask the lender. Go to annualcreditreport.com and get a copy of your credit report. Rectify the errors on your credit report if you find any. Too many mistakes on your credit report can drop your credit score.

No, not really. Actually this is the job of a lender. But to be wise, it's good to check your credit score and credit report, and see for what loan terms you are qualifying. This way you will be able to avoid too many hard inquiries that might ruin your credit profile!

No you don't...visit annualcreditreport.com as SC said earlier and get your free copy of your credit report. Make sure everything is accurate and on track.

Usually, it's not done like that. But you should check your credit reports and scores at regular intervals to keep you up-to-date and act accordingly if required.
