I received a pre-appoved credit card from Walmart asking if I wanted to apply for the card. I did and then was turned down. Upset that I was pre-appoved and then rejected. Sounds fishy. Why would GE Capital Retail Bank do that? I really did not want the card , but it seemed to be a good idea to save on the discount they have saving on gas purchases saving 3 to 4 cents per gallon if I used the card. Upset by the fraudulent pre-approved statement.

Preapprovals are based on vague info. When they actually run your credit, you could get a denial. Happens all the time.

that was a pre-approval to apply for the card.those always have this disclaimer:
you received this offer based on certain data.this offer doesn't constitute approval.
that or something like it is on all of those offers so just know that getting one is not a given that you be issued a card.
