I have a ton of credit card debt and I have been told by two credit counselors that I cannot meet the monthly payments they want. I contacted a company called United Financial Services d/b/a Newport Financial Services and they have an attorney who works with them Jason Hass. Has anyone worked with this company to settle debt. If so, are they legitimate and helpful?


I have not worked with any counselors yet although there are plenty of people on here that have. My suggestion to you would be two things: #1. Have you registered on this site for a free debt consult signing up either on line, call the 1-800-601-1579 or clicking on the right side of your screen.

Also make sure that before you hire anyone you check them out with the bbb before you give them any money. Other's will be along shortly to advise you further. Good luck and it's great that you have joined us.

If you are thinking about using any company do as Lady said check them out with the BBB But also check with your state, to see if they are licensed to do business in your state and at the same time you can find out if there are any complaints against that company that were filed with the state. You can also ask them for a list of companies that are licensed in your state. They cannot recommend any one company so they will tell you to look over the list and then contact them with a company you chose to find out info on them.
