Sophia, you won't find any information on New York's site, because in the State of New York, payday loans are illegal, whether storefront or through the internet.

Thank you Canada. I did contact the Attorney General Office and they are mailing me out something but what do I do in the mean time? Freeze my account?

Anyone heard of PRS - I think they represent FCNB credit card people who went under a little time ago -

Sophia, credit unions are pretty good about working with their customers. Mine was understanding and helped me close my checking and divert my direct deposit, then they also let me open a new checking account. dduvall, I've not heard of PRS but I'm sure somebody else here will probably know who they are.

Sophia, Just explain to the bank you are having personal problems and need to close account and open a new one. They will not question that. Totally close the old one dont leave a dime in there or the payday people will still try. Good Luck KYSIDE38

I have a checking and savings account with a credit union and I closed my checking account today. My bank was very understanding and helped me alot. I kept my savings account open. I plan to pay my bills by cash, cashiers checks, or money orders. No more checking accounts for me!
