I just found out Collect America is taking money from my account to pay someone else's debt(to the tune of 1,500 dollars). They have my account # but this is the first time I've heard of them.Any Ideas? How do I contact them? The payment slip says Daniels & Norell. The bank says not their fault. What should I do?

Wow, that's the first time I've ever heard of that as well! With a storefront PDL company like Advance America, the only way they could get an account number would be off a paper check that a borrower would have written to them. Has anyone stolen checks from you? I would call the Advance America branch and your bank and ask to see a copy of the check that was presented ASAP.

I would still call Advance America for the following reasons: it sounds like they are trying to collect on a defaulted account, because what they do in this case is try to debit in different amounts electronically, after the paper check has been dishonored and returned.
It sounds like possibly someone in their collections department wrote down an account number incorrectly to debit and it came up yours? Either way, I would call Advance America, and if they can't help you, call your bank and put a block on your account against them.

How do I reach them? All I have to go on is the name of the lawyer and the name Collect America, that is how I came up with this website.

Here is the info courtesy of Budd Hibbs.By the way what they did is fraud(criminal) and I would most definitely be looking for a way to press charges.Contact your bank and demand they do a fraudulent transaction investigation to credit those funds back immediately.

Going through some old records I found a payment in the amount of $2,141.27 to you firm dated 3/17/05. I would appreciate knowing what this was for since we share this card and I make the payments on it. The card is in Robert Watson & Annette Watson names.

Thank you,
Annette Watson
