Allied Interstate is threatening to offset my social security check to pay off an old school debt to Sallie Mae. Can they do that ?
If this is a federal loan,
If this is a federal loan, you no longer owe sallie mae...your guarantor has paid them off. And yes, social security CAN be garnished to pay federal loans.
