Has anyone dealt with them? I owe a debt they have, when I first talked to them they said they would keep the debt for 120 days, They would not take payments. I will have the full amount on the 123rd day, that happens to be my pay day. anyone know how they are to deal with? Or what happens to a debt after the 120 days.

I second that notion. Sometimes (but not always) when a collector states they can only hold the account for xx days, that refers to the amount of time the individual collector has to collect on the account, before another collector has a shot at the commission. If you call them, they'd probably just pressure you to get the money in sooner.

When you say an individual collector, do you mean in the same ca? I was wondering when it leaves one collector and goes to another? I want to take care of it with this one collector. I owe it, and they are not tacking on no extra fees, I just need a few more days after their 120 day deadline. Has anyone dealt directly with certegy?

I'm referring to the time that an individual collector has to work an account. It will vary from business to business, client account to client account, and from one type of debt to another. At my former employer, agents had 14 days to "pop" an account. After the 14 days were up, any other collector could work the account and get the commission. My office had all the leverage it needed--a debtor had to pay in full to get their driver license reinstated (mostly traffic tickets, but some other court fees/fines as well).

Sorry, I have no information on Certegy. If you want to deal only with the collector you've already spoken to, I advise calling in on day 123, but blocking your number on the caller ID first. Then, just ask to speak to Mr./Ms./Mrs. suchandsuch, and not give any personal info (name, account number, phone number, etc...) to any other collector that answers.
