866-828-3072 threatening call two days ago, guys' name was "james", clearly a recorded message, saying in order to avoid the next step i should call him right away to that number; needless to say i had been getting similar messages with toll free call back numbers (don't remember them, and of course don't care anyways) for the past 2-3 days


It is Franklin Collection Agency

When they call you next time, be informed of your legal rights. Ask them for debt validation of the account they are collecting for. You should be able to check the account before sending money.

Hi Alain welcome to the boards, the company is Franklin Collection Agency and they blow alot of hot air. DO NOT let them intimidate you. You will need to send them a verification of debt letter and if they call you again state that you will not acknowledge the company claims until they verify your debt with them. good luck and keep posting many will be of great assistance here for you.

Now, to prevent any harassment from a collection agency, start recording their phone calls. Make them aware that you are doing such actions for legal purpose. In some states, you have to take the permission of the caller whereas most states allow secret recording. Note down the date and time and name of the person calling you. This will be good for you.
