Validation after agreeing to settlement

I received a call from AvanteUSA regarding money owed from a school loan that i supposedly didn't finish paying. About a year ago I took out a personal loan to pay off the remainder of my student loan (to SallieMae) and to pay off some other credit card debt that i had acquired.
One thing that I found odd was that i didn't get any letters or calls from the school regarding this outstanding balance. Receiving this called shook me and I agreed to settle and set a payment 2 installment payment. I then did some searching and came across this site. What I'm wondering is if its too late to ask them to validate my debt, since i already agreed to paying it? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

The school didnt lend you the money so they would have no reason

The school didnt lend you the money so they would have no reason to notify you. Did you ask AvanteUSA who the lender was? Is it defaulted? Get on the phone and call them back and then verify on the phone with the lender. Asking for validation now will void the settlement.
