progressive Management Systems and pay for delete question

I used the letter I found on this website and sent it to Progressive management systems for a medical bill they say I owe from 6/2006 for 65.00. The letter states something like " I am not admitting to the debt but will pay in full if this item is deleted from all 3 of my credit reports. Please reply with the signature and name of the person that can authorize this and I will send out payment".
I sent the letter snail mail and about 2 weeks later my brother called me and said that a Jessica called him from Progressive Managements systems and gave him her phone number. He gave me the number but I lost it and so did he when I asked for it again.
My question is, has anyone had a good experience dealing with Progressive Management Systems and getting them to delete a collections from the credit reports? I only have a few more months before it is out of SOL in Calif. but would like it off my report if possible.

Have they contacted youin writing at all? If not I would send them a debt validation letter certified mail return receipt requested, you can find one in the do it yourself section or google "sample debt validation letter"

I have not heard anything bad about this company, you could try searching this site at the top right and see what posts pop up. You need to be very careful for a pay 2 delete...make sure everything is in writing and if it is not or they won't but say they will delete it, do not pay them.

Many people will send out a pay for delete, stating that while they do not admit to owing the debt, in the interest of taking care of the matter fast and efficiently are willing to pay for a delete. Still reserve your right to request validation upon this account. Also include in the letter that you wish NO phone contact, that the US mail is sufficient.

Hi all,
I was testing the water with them to see how receptive they were and received a letter from them on Saturday that they would accept 128.50 for all 3 of the collections and once the funds are received, would be deleted from all the credit bureau files and it was signed by the collection Manager so I am going to take them up on the offer and send them a money order.
Does anyone know how long they have to remove the negative listing after they have received payment?

Hi Mr. Cali,
The time span for negative info to be on your credit report starts from the time you were late for the first time or from the date the account went into collections. Mostly it stays for 7 years, no matter its negative or positive.

Even after payment the negative listing will appear inclusive of late payments, accounts the creditor turned over to the CA and filed judgments against you if any.
However, the original creditor or the credit bureaus have the right to remove the negative listing. You can extend for a pay for delete agreement and make sure that you get everything in black and white.
