No it is not legal and probably some sort of scam. If he calls again tell him to send something in writing.

The attorney called to curse you??? It is an indication that it's a scam. And no wonder the number will give you no info. Just tell him that unless he sends anything in writing, you will not co-operate. If he threatens you, you can file a case against the number with your local police authorities.
