Progressive Management Systems - Has anybody dealt with them?
Are they a legit company?

I have been going around and around with this company over a $900 medical bill (which was originally $733) FROM 2005!! They ABSOLUTELY do NOT want to hear anything but how and when you are going to pay the bill! I have repeatedly written to them, giving them the correct information in order for my insurance to pay the bill since it was not billed correctly originally. My INSURANCE COMPANY even contacted them for the correct information, and they STILL are coming after me for the monies!! It's ridiculous! Especially considering, I am covered by an HMO and should not have received the bill in the first place since I was "authorized" for these services!!!
Do Progressive Management Systems own the debt or does the origi
Do Progressive Management Systems own the debt or does the original provider? Have you contacted the OC?

i recently checked my credit report and found Progressive Management Systems to be on it. I have no clue why they are on my credit report, the only thing i can think of is a bill that i paid late through ge money bank cc. But when i look at that credit cards history on my credit report it says that i've held a $0 balance since that late bill i paid which was over 2 years ago!! im going to get a copy of the check that was cashed and whatever paper work i can from ge money bank but is there anything else i can do to fix this? please email me at

Mornin' Oscar -
Send them a debt validation letter via certified mail, return receipt requested. Their address will be at the bottom of your credit report.
Once you get the green card back in the mail, that shows they got the letter, dispute the tradeline with the credit reporting agencies. It's illegal for them to continue to report after they get that letter, until they provide you with validation. That should get them off your report, at least in the short term. Meanwhile, it may also turn up the details of this alleged debt.

hey unclewulf! thanks for the quick reply, i forgot to get back to this but.. i checked your link on debt validation and it states i have to provide a debt validation within 30 days of receiving a written notice from the collections agency.. Well according to my experian credit report, they've been on me since june of 2006 and i just saw it this past november! Is this something i should still pursue? i have heard the CA can only pursue me for so long then eventually will dissappear off my credit report? I just dont want to ask for debt validation and end up opening up a whole can of worms for myself.

ok im looking at the credit report a lil more.. and it says progressive management systems.. under it, it says "original creditor: ..." and the original creditor is a hospital which happens to be my employer. does this mean my debt was with the hospital? or is progressive management systems taking money out of my paycheck?! during that credit report it said my balance with them was $0
how to deal with Progressive Management Systems?
i have hospital debt since last year.. which is almost $9000
that's crazy.. and this company keep calling me for this and that. and it turn out that my credit is going bad becouse this debt..
i dont know what to do..=(
is there anyone can help me with this???
what is progressive management systems collection agency
Progressive Management Systems is the rudest and most unhelpful company that I have ever dealt with. They cannot even furnish a reciept for the $200 they collected from me. They hang up, transfer my call, talk over me. Now that they have their money, they don't give me the time of day. I am completely at a loss as to how to deal with these people. After speaking with the "supervisor" Mary- I am still without a reciept.
I am trying to repair my credit, and my bank wants proof of payment, and they PMS refuses to give me a reciept. They are standing between me and my familys future as we are trying to buy a house!
Anyone have suggestions on what I can do with them?????????????

I recieved a call from Progressive Managements systems. I was informed that they had several unpaid hospital bills, and asked when I would be paying? I informed them I had no money to pay, and suggested they sue me if they ever wanted to see any of the money. She replied by asking me to disscuss the matter maybe we could come to some agreement. I said no. The best thing is for you to sue me. She said alright. I guess will have to review your file. I don't owe the money and I have all the documents to prove it in court.

ok, i got a collection notice from them as well. i think it's only a matter of time until everyone does. so i have 30 days to request validation. i don't want to send it via certified mail so as not to spend too much $ on these fools so i'm going to include a copy of proof of service by mail with my request to them, signed by my friend who is not a party to this transaction... the question is, is this good enough for proof of mailing or do i really need to spend $5 for certified mail? thank you!

yea they are a ligit company and they are located in west covina california. i worked for them for a couple of yrs, we handled verizon, medical, utility and direct tv collections there. they are a bunch of morons there and many of their collectors violate the fdcpa. they dont do a good job inforcing them so i recomend to record the phone convo's but make sure you you tell them your doing so

I know it's an old post, but...
Spend the five bucks. That's what? A latte and a donut?
Having your friend sign a 'proof of service' is worse than useless. It doesn't do anything for you. And it shows the CA that you don't know what you're doing, and that you're kinda makin' it up as you go along. Certified mail with return receipt gives you legal proof that they got your DV. So they can't just keep on keepiong on, and claim they never saw it.
I hate to pay five bucks for a letter, too. But it sure beats spending a day in court. Even if you win.
Progressive Management Systems & Cedars Sinai
I too have had a rude encounter with Progressive Management Systems. It started with The Cedars Sinai Business Office. I had medical bills! Cedars Sinai sent me (1) duplicate bills, (2) blind bills (bills with no itemized listing of services) and finally (3) bills that listed coded services (impossible to comprehend). I have been willing to make payments but only to justifiable bills.
In comes Progressive Management Systems, with their ghetto style intimidation phone calls (Rashad was one of the names). From the beginning, this debt was initiated by my ex-wife. We had been divorced for many years. Cedars Sinai knew this and still allowed Progressive Management to take on this collection.
I have sent letters with proof of the divorce and Progressive Management still submits adverse listings to the credit listing agencies. It's beginning to cause me some financial problems. I may have to take some kind of legal action.
Progressive Management is "power tripping" with kind of a mean edge.
In effect, Progressive Management Systems is acting as an extension of The Cedars Sinai Business Office.
I will never do business with Cedars Sinai or any doctor affiliated with Cedars Sinai again.
That's my story.
oneovajordan - what is the email format they use at PMS?
I want to email their President re: my account
PMS has a horrible way of collecting, they have talk off scrips
PMS has a horrible way of collecting, they have talk off scrips they use to intimidate you just to pay even if the dept does not belong to you as they also work off comission!!!
That company is just out to make money, they dont even take care of their own Employees. If there is one thing to say about them, it is that they do brake alot of the FDCPA rules, and if you catch them you can either sue them, or even get your dept paid by them if you have reasonable fact that they broke an FDCPA Rule...
PMS Sucks!!!
Look I know a thing or two about collections, and if you want to
Look I know a thing or two about collections, and if you want to get them off your back or just want them to stop calling all you need to do is tell them to "Please seize and desist" those are the magic words and make it very clear as this is the legal way to make the calls stop for the collection. And if you do recieve another call following the request, you can definetly sue them or scare the collections company by telling them that your gona right a letter to the "Better Business burral" and that your gona sue them unless they agree to Pay the bill in full them selfs.
And you'll find collectos that just dont care if you rqst this and still call u, so be prepared to ask to spk to a supervisor if this occurs....
Hope this helps anybody....

Your in California right? That is a 2 party state unfortunately, you will have to tell them you are recording the phone call. You can read more about the laws on recording calls here:
http://www.rcfp.org/taping/
As For suing for FDCPAct violations, the more violations, the more bite. It is better to sue for say, 5 or 10 violations than it is for one. Keep in mind though that no matter how many violations they make, it is only up to $1,000 per action, meaning per lawsuit. You also cannot file seperate lawsuits if they have 5 violations, that is called "claim splitting" It can be very bad and actually cost you money if they or the court catches on.
Class actions however are much better, if you get 10 people in your state, you could then get more than the $1,000 max, for a class action I think it is up to $400,000 per lawsuit. Class actions are more of a punishments for constant violators who have no "Bona fide" defense.
Also if you sue a debt collector and win, if they violate the law yet again, then you can file another lawsuit for any violations that happened after the previous lawsuit.

I am dealing with these clowns right now. My Sprint bill was assigned to a collector (Allied Interstate). I had reported my phone stolen to Sprint and then I get this bill in the mail for $360! Then the notice from Allied says I owe $576. So I send them debt validation letter (RR). I get back the card, but no info. About a month later I receive notice from Progressive Management that THEY are collecting for Sprint. So I sent them a debt validation letter (RR) and tell them I sent validation request to Allied and since this debt is disputed I don't understand why they have it. Get the receipt but no info. They call my house several times and then on 3/2 I receive a nasty call from them on my cell phone (I kept the record of the call) but they wouldn't talk with me because I wouldn't give them my SS# over the phone to verify that I am me. I haven't received validation from them.
So what's my next step??? I am trying to repair my credit and I don't need these jackasses to jerk me around.

They are unprofessional to say the least, called me for a water bill that had already been paid. Had no proof of the debt, wanted to know how I was going to take care of it and did not listen to anything. I contacted the utility who verified that it was paid but the liason was not in so it looks like they are going to be harming my credit and I'll end up suing them.

This company is a joke, the people running this company are a joke as well. The president and vice president are a couple of idiots. If you email the company you will get a reply from Juan Medina Vargas, he has no brains. I am a collector and used to work for this company. They have no sort of training program. As for me I have worked in the collection industry for over 25 years and knew this company has no value for its customers nor their employees. Mangement team is clueless. The company loses clients and blame the collectors for their mistakes. This company needs to fire all the employees working there and start hiring people that have brains. Dont deal with them, if you get a call regarding an account I suggest you call the creditor instead. I have to attend trade shows and see the executive team running around trying to brown nose their clients, they need to do this since they are an awful company. Luring their clients with trips and gifts. What happened to good customer service!!!
Good Business
It would be in their interest to prove that one owes a debt and they can legally collect it. On the phone they are as SHADY as can be. I'm sending a debt validation letter because it's the right thing to do. If you're thinking about it... Do it! Why do you think there is so much shady business practice lately? Because they know they can get away with it. Thanks to all that posted here.

I just got a call from this company. The guy on the phone asked me my birthday and address for that he could locate my account. Well I'm not one to give out personal information over the phone to someone calling from a (866) number anyway Lol. I refused to provide him with the information and asked if there was something in writing that was sent out. I asked this question because for one I've never heard of them before today, so I know there isn't a letter! But he said yes (red flag) I then asked what address was it sent to what city. He was unable to tell me. I asked what kind of acccount was it, he refused to tell me. Not sure I owe any money to anyone. I just bought a new car and I'm sure if I didn't pay a bill or two it would've showed up on my credit report last week!!! From the above reviews I have reason to believe this may be a very old collection that they are trying to get money for, if its older than four years they can't collect any way, but I think it's sweet that they would even try. I guess I'll wait for my letter in the mail to never come.
Patient
I got a phone call and also a bill from Progressive maNAGEMENT sYSTEMS AND they are now telling me (in under 20 days) that I have $166 in interest owed to them on top of my unpaid balance.
Does this sound right???
AND do I have any recourse about NOT paying this to them??

I was just told that they charge 10% interest per year charged on a daily basis(?). Now I have an additional $785 added on in interest fees...like I was able to pay the original $5k+ in the first place. I'm screwed.
Worst experience ever
These people just don't want to get paid. I've tried three times to pay them on behalf of my 18 yr old daughter. She even had to call and give permission for them to talk to me. Then I called a few days later to pay and they said permission was good for one day only - would sure have been nice to know that on the same day!
Well if you don't plan on paying it just tell them to stop calli
Well if you don't plan on paying it just tell them to stop calling you by they have to remove your number off their data base. Of just ask for a payment plan. Hope this helps their a pain I know I use to work their.

Progressive and Divorce
I've started getting collection notices and calls from Progressive regarding my ex-husband's medical bills. He passed away several months ago and left nearly $200k in medical bills (he was uninsured, homeless, and unemployed during the entire illness.) We've been divorced since 2007, and were separated for 5 years before THAT.
As the closest thing he had to family here, he put me down as his "emergency contact" each time he went into the hospital (which was nearly every week towards the end.) I assume this is how Progressive decided to gift me with these collection notices, which are coming in both names.
I spoke to someone early on, who DEMANDED I prove I'm no longer married to my ex. He also wanted MY social security number. I told him he wasn't getting either one. I also told him to provide ME with proof that I was responsible for this debt in any way, shape, or form. He hung up on me (whatta surprise!) Since then, I've been getting daily calls from their office, which I ignore (gotta love caller ID). I faxed them one letter advising them that my ex is dead and that I'm not responsible for the debts - now I'm sending the official, certified notice. Based on what I'm reading there, this should be the start of some fun times with Progressive.
Send them cease and desist, certified return receipt requested.
Send them cease and desist, certified return receipt requested. If they take you to court, your defense is quite clear...
Legal action
Is ther ea way to take legal action agianst these jerks? Everytime they called me all they wanted was money whenI told them to send me documents showing that its my debt they refused. They talk over you called me at my job when I told them not to and when I asked for an address to send this to them in writing they hung up.. Now they are calling me threatening to have me up on check fraud charges and fired from my job.. The phone number that I have from them is not regestered with the company and I am being threatened with court and legal charges from these jerks is there anybody out there who can help because I still have no paperwork showing that this is mydebt at all..
Progressive Management Systems
They just had a recording leave me a message so I returned the call & I had to wait 10 minutes hanging on before a person came on the line. I told them they are asking for my sister who died 3 months ago:eek:. They would not tell me why they were phoning, where they were located or anything so that I could send them proof she died. When I tried to explain to the foreign sounding accent girl she hung up the phone on me. I sure hope they are debt collectors because they sure aren't getting anything after that performance!
I Just Had The Same Interaction
I got a random letter from this company alleging I owe a medical debt to a company I've never heard of. I called to dispute the bill and they said they needed my date of birth to access the account. I'm not about to give my DOB to an unknown person who has sent me a letter with a fictitious debt, and so they said they couldn't give me any information about the debt unless I gave them personal information "for my protection."
